I have a Hitatchi HDS721010DLE630 1TB Sata hard drive. Occasionally it will lock up. It makes a sort of whir click repeatedly, a reboot fixes this. A temporary fix seems to be keeping it at a 45 degree angle.
Someone mentioned a firmware update being able to fix this issue? I didn't know you could update the firmware on drives? I have downloaded a program called Seagate tools for windows that has shown zero errors during it's test run.
It will run fine then whir click on constant loop. It does go away after a while, but renders the drive useless - it's like it's stuck momentarily. Drive is a little over 12 months old. It's totally random, works ok for a while then it plays up.
Any suggestions? I've tried changing Sata cable, operating system is Windows 8.
Thanks in advance.
