Hitman Absolution Pre-Order.

Completed, good game I reckon - glad I finished it, decent story... some missions are a pain, but that's because I go in gun crazy rather than hitman like :D

Good though, nice to be able to play it how you like and still be able to finish it.

N'awww, can't play a game without saving before you do everything incase you fail? :D

Sub to Netflix dude, don't think gaming is for you. :)

I was actually referring to the way everything resets if you reload a checkpoint (as in all the guards respawn and everything is as it was....expect you are half way through the level)

and yes, i don't have time to replay whole levels of games over and over because of a failure at the last moment. I like a game with a good save game mechanic.

Thing is, you ought to be punished for failing, games with autosaves/quicksaves are a joke, oh look an enemy I might not be able to beat, F5! Oh I died? No matter, F9! Oh look, I'm back to where I was 15 seconds ago with zero loss. It's people wanting crap like that which made Far Cry 3 so insultingly stupid with tutorial messages the whole way through, it makes absolute diamonds like Dark Souls pop up once in a blue moon. Ruining gaming, next thing you know we'll all be playing Heavy Rain/Walking Dead clones because that's what every single game has dumbed down into.

Quick one guys: any ideas how I backup my save files? I want to uninstall the game but keep the saves for future quick plays :)

Thanks.

C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\userdata\[YOUR NUMBER]\205930\remote, if you want to be extra safe just copy the entire C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\userdata folder and then paste it back in when you next need them.

Is this game best played with keyboard and mouse or a 360 pad?

I use a pad for this game so I can just sit back, relax and enjoy at whatever pace i choose. Only part Ive come across so far where mouse may have been better is in the shooting contest but im a tactical silent assassin here not a run and gunner.

I finally got around to starting this properly this weekend, and ended up pumping around 5-6 hours into it. I was hooked!

I had a few performance issues at first, which seems to be common unfortunately. I've on a pretty hefty laptop (680m 4gb, with 16gb RAM, and an i7 processor) so it was a bit of a shame to have to drop all the settings a bit. It still looks good though.

It's so nice to play a game where your hand isn't being held all the time, you're just free to do what you want, work out what is best to do, and then do things how you want to do them. I know there are set ways to complete certain missions, but there's usually quite a lot of them, and it's not always obvious. I really like that.

I checked a walkthrough to see how far into the game I was, and it looks like I'm only about 25% through the missions, so it'll probably be about 20 hours for me to complete this! Great value!

Controls are great as well!

Presumably you haven't played Blood Money then? After you're done with Absolution, give it a go. You'll see what a true Hitman game looks like.

Sorry, I should have mentioned I have played most of the Hitman games. I have played Bloody Money, although I can't remember if I completed it or not. I do remember it being awesome though, but my memory is pretty poor and I can't really remember the details.

I'm not so keen of the escape bits in Absolution though, I'd rather just have assassination missions only. That may change as I progress though.

I'm playing Absolution on the 360 at the moment - I am quite enjoying it - although Blood Money is better. Some of the challenges on Absolution are quite interesting... but at the same time, they all feel a bit pointless since to do them you just need to do it at any point, reload check point... so you don't actually have to complete the mission to earn them.

I loved hm absolution. It was the last game I actually bothered to complete

I'm at the other end of the spectrum - i struggled to play through the games because i didn't like the checkpoint system or the restrictive corridor nature of the levels; it was not as open as some of the Blood Money levels.

I realised this last night. It completely defeats the point of them in my opinion!

I don't really like the challenges and I ignored pretty much all of them seeing as the vast majority involve being unstealthy as ****. :p

I have also noticed that as well! I've done most of my kills in a stealthy way, although I'm on a mission now where I have to kill three people and I'm tempted to be a bit more gung ho.

The mission in the orphanage I ended up just killing everyone as well. It was great fun! It also saved a lot of time :p

I'm pretty much playing it as "Suit Only" and "Don't Get Spotted" and I was also doing it without killing or knocking anyone out (so I didn't lose any points) - which makes it a lot harder. I managed to do that on all the levels right up to where I am now (which is the Motel - which hopefully isn't too much of a spoiler).

But when I realised I could get more of the challenges, I would at the start of level, go all gun ho, learn the layouts, points of interest etc best ways getting around etc, earn those challenges, and then reload check point and do it hardcore :)

Sad. I know. :p
