Hitman Absolution Pre-Order.

Comments under the article are quite positive really. Even someone else saying he has reviewed it and a lot of the comments in PC gamer are false.

Hopefully this guy is telling the truth as I have always liked the Hitman games and this was to be my first on a PC so really looking forward to it

Yeah was going to provide my source but it appears to have been taken down now.

Wonder why that is!

"I have reviewed this game, although I would like to remain anonymous. I can honestly say that the comments Mr Francis has made about the game are entirely false. Assassinations are NOT cutscenes any more than they are in Blood Money (IE an animation once the 'accident' is set up or whatever is the way it's always been – it's not a cutscene because you're either choosing to stick around and watch – in full control – or you're already making your escape or whatever, NEVER is control taken away from you).

As for checkpoints THEY ONLY EVEN EXIST ON LOW DIFFICULTY. Meaning this reviewer played it through on easy or medium and since he claims to be an experienced Hitman player, he should know that these difficulty levels were not made for him. He has essentially failed to do the job he has been paid to do.

The 'pointless' objectives (open a door) refers to exiting the level once the hit has been complete. YOU HAVE ALWAYS HAD TO EXIT THE LEVEL ONCE THE HIT WAS COMPLETE.

Some of the levels are small, sure, but THERE ARE FIFTY OF THEM.

The AI is fantastic as always. 47 is the catalyst. Mix him with the AI in any way and entertaining (and often unexpected) things happen. Just as they always have, but way, way better than ever before. The story is, admittedly, quite poor, but it's also irrelevant. It ties one playground to the next by a thin thread and that's all that matters.

Do not listen to Tom Francis. He has failed to do his job and speaking as a fellow reviewer, in my opinion deserves to be severely scolded for it, both by the general gaming public, who he has failedf, by the developer and publisher of the game, who he has failed, and by the company he works for, who he has failed. Once you lot get to play the game, you will immediately see how FACTUALLY incorrect this review is. It's chock-full of out and out lies."

Can't wait

Also found this, but not sure on the source:

Easy
Supreme training and a physique enhanced beyond ordinary human capacity mean that your enemies are no match for you. By cunning or by brute force you are unstoppable.
Players can activate additional checkpoints
Instinct regenerates
Instinct will provide hints
Enemies react more slowly than normal

Normal
You can rely on 47's superior training and instinct. Remaining completely unnoticed can be a challenge, but you can always rely on your guns to get you out of trouble.
Players can activate additional checkpoints
Instinct does not regenerate
Instinct will provide hints
Normal enemy presence with normal reaction times

Hard
You like a challenge and your enemies will provide you with just that. They will be more numerous and with faster reactions. Evading your enemies will be difficult and you must strike with flawless timing.
Players can activate additional checkpoints
Instinct depletes when used and does not regenerate
No instinct hints
Additional enemies with improved reaction times

Expert
You fight for every inch of progress, often without firing a single bullet. You don't rely on any help and accept trying many times before reaching your target... And perfection.
No player activated checkpoints.
Instinct depletes when used and does not regenerate
No instinct hints
Maximum number of enemies with fastest reaction

Purist
This is a challenge for a true perfectionist. You know every rule, every detail, and all environments by heart. Even then you will die trying.
No help
No guides
No interface
Only a crosshair

Good to hear some opinions. It did seem like a suspiciously savage review.... (btw it's in the print issue of the magazine, not the website). Normally PC Gamer reviews are a bit non-commital (i.e. weak).

I'll stick with my pre-order.

PC gamer's reviews have been a bit off for a while as far as I'm concerned, so I don't give this one much credence, though could be that the game does not perform that well on PC. everything I've seen on this game looks amazing & seems to hold true to the series history & gameplay mechanics, I'm so tempted to pick this up but I was suckered in by Dishonored the other week & found it to be quite average TBH not half as good as most review made it out to be.
If anyone got it this morning I'd be very interested in you're first impressions, I didn't preorder so I may pick it up on my way home tonight.

just bit the bullet and preordered.

I know PC gamer's review is causing concern, but the gods know just how much i want a new hitman game.

fingers crossed that Absolution isn't to Blood Money, what SC: Conviction was to Chaos Theory...
