Hitman Blood Money Demo coming soon

thats a point - if you were doing the mission properly you could have picked up a knife in the kitchen.
I think I've only used a knife once. It's rare that Plan B comes into action, but it's always there if needed. Plan C is find a corner and fight.

Eek, downloaded the entire 700 meg demo and found that I'm also missing that vital dll file it needs. Looks like I'll have to d/l it again. Hope it runs all right on my PC, sounds like an amazing game!

/reinstalls Contracts while waiting

:edit:

But on the plus side, I'm getting about 240Kb/s this time. Might not have to wait so long after all.

That's something I'm a little angry about, crash and you can't load from any save.

I've heard this method used, not sure if it works:

If you crash during play and want to load a save, before you start the game copy the save game folder sideways. Load the game, load the level. Copy the save game folder contents over the new one and load as usual.

Ahh hope that really works! I had masses of problems with it crashing to desktop on the christmas mission. (although I found out why it was doing it now....)

Really annoying having to restart the game again, only to find the savegames are also gone!

I'll try it now...

We have a winner. This is what I did:

1) Game saved at some point
2) Game CTD. Bugger.
3) Copy all the files in 'C:\Documents and Settings\My Name\My Documents\Hitman Blood Money\Profiles\Pyles' into a seperate directory
4) Load up the game
5) Load the profile
6) Load the map like last time
7) Save it
8) alt-tab to where I copied the files and move them over the current files in 'C:\Documents and Settings\My Name\My Documents\Hitman Blood Money\Profiles\Pyles'
9) alt-tab to the game. Hit escape and head to the Load menu. It should load the original saves.

Works for me. It's a bit long-winded but is far quicker then doing a map again. ;)

Damn, that's me downloaded it a second time and got the same missing dll error. Don't suppose anyone has a d3ddx9_27.dll they want to send me? :(

Google it. You can download the .dll in a few seconds. In fact, you never had to redownload the game. It's only a missing DX9 file that needs to be put into windows.

You could have broken it to him gently!

It's a DirectX dll, not one of theirs. Hang on...

Great, thanks! :)

I tried Googling it, I only got two strange results that were in foreign languages (forum posts, actually). But thanks anyway. :p

lol :p

:edit:

I'm missing more dlls now. It's just not been my week (and it's only Tuesday!). But I can use that website Roduga linked me to to find it, hopefully.:)

:edit2:

And now I'm sitting here laughing, because nothing on this computer is working, and I've given up trying to analyse the problem, I'm going to sit and laugh at it until it works. I may be a while. :)

Laughing at a problem never helps, sharing it does.

For example, I just took a guard hostage whilst shooting his friend in one swift move. I shared the problem with them.

Have you tried downloading the latest DX?

As far as I can tell, the new problem is with:
'The procedure entry point _BinkSetVolume@12 could not be located in the dynamic library binkw32.dll'

Redownloaded the dll, redownloaded Bink vid player. Googled the problem, all the sites that come up are problems when people have cracked or copied games, and the advice is to reinstall from the original disk. Hmm. :o

Then I found that the game itself would work, it was just the patch program that wouldn't. 'Oh joy!' thinks me, until I get to the load screen and it crashes to the desktop.
