HL2: Episode 3 to be unvieled at end of year?

I've started playing HL2 again tonight. Still enjoying it immensely. Oh what I would give to look upon that game with fresh eyes again. I was gripped from start to finish.
My favourite part have to be Highway 17. What's yours?

Red Letter Day was excellent, loved the character interaction / voice acting and the "accident" at the beginning

Made my jaw drop back in the day. Black Mesa East, Nova Prospekt and Ravenholm are very atmospheric and fondly remembered.

Yeah the ending to EP2 was quite a shocker even though it was pretty obvious someone would have to hit the dirt at that point.

Wouldn't it be easier to say it's longer then Episode 1 and 2.
Unless he means the ingame time-frame, or he means it's longer than either of them but not both together.

I read this as meaning the gap between ep 2 and ep 3 will be longer than between ep 1 and ep2 rather than anything to do with in-game timelines.

Episode 2 was released pretty much 12 months ago to the day. Episode 1 was released in June 06 so the gap between ep 1 and ep 2 was 16 months and we're 12 months in to the gap between ep 2 and ep 3.

In other words the EARLIEST episode 3 could come out will be in 4 months time, and my money would be on H2 next year.

I just installed all the Half-Life games, want to go through them slowly to freshen the story in my head. Should I bother with Half-Life: Blue Shift?

I wouldn't bother with Blue Shift.

I would bother with Fakefactory's Cinematic mod for orange box though. It has updated textures, models and all sorts for HL2, Episode 1 and Episode 2.

My opinion of the cinematic mod has changed recently.

Some of the models now are just stupid, Breen has hit the hair dye too heavily, all the women seem to have the figure and walk of a supermodel, Barney looks like he's Puerto Rican, and the voice acting is all screwed up. This isn't mentioning the unhealthy obsession there seems to be with Alyx. Also the music is stolen from the Batman soundtrack.
I like the environment textures though.
