Hmm, so post codes really do make a difference.

i hate insurance on postcode, i live in OL13 and park on a driveway, and where i live i think sheep outnumber humans, but even still if i moved to York city centre, street parking, it'd more than HALVE my insurance....just because my postcode is kinda linked to oldham/rochdale area

slightly off topic but to save me making another thread can anyone tell me, when you added an older driver to your insurance to low the premium, does this work with all companies or only certain companies ?

tends to be only certain companies, anyone underwritten by directline forget about it, admiral group it makes a HUGE difference if you're younger! Halved my (at the time she renewed) 18yo gf's insurance on a 1.2 micra by adding her mum, but would only save about 20% for me @ 20

When i moved house i went pretty much same postcode, but went from driveway over night to parking on the street was a slight bump that i expected. But they wanted even more for me to park in my garage.

That i just couldn't fathom, so i have it down for street parking, not that it would fit in my garage with all the crap in there lol

That's just because you live in the middle of nowhere though :p ;)

Mine was supposed to be £1050 this year, dropped to about £810 when I changed the postcode and dropped a further £18 when I added DOC  :D

Ok for saying that I live in the middle of nowhere, £3xx fc :) I like my middle of nowhere ;) :)

I just did a quote for my pug 106 1.1 at two address, 1 home and 1 uni, prices are:

London (UB3) - £912 (home)

Leicester (LE2) - £650  (uni)

Another example of this which is brought up time and time again is why insurance companies generally charge more if you have uprated the brakes. People moan and say that their car is now safer, which it is. But what sort of person goes to the bother of upgrading brakes in the first place? A risky one is the answer!:)

They probably take the view that if you want more stopping power you're going to want to to go faster in the first place. Same with rollcages, I guess they think you're no longer aversed to slinging the car into a ditch :D

They need to own a mini :p Then they would know why people do these things!
