Hmm, so post codes really do make a difference.

They probably take the view that if you want more stopping power you're going to want to to go faster in the first place.

I agree. I was actually having this discussion with my step dad a few weeks ago.

We got onto the subject of tyres. Should my insurance come down now that I've got decent tyres on my car, while Mr Smith from down the road has a set of Wanli's?

Or should I be paying more for driving an older car, where the handling and braking isn't as good as a modern car and therefore I'm more likely to plough into the back of someone when my wheels lock up.

Insurance, it's a minefield.

Another example of this which is brought up time and time again is why insurance companies generally charge more if you have uprated the brakes. People moan and say that their car is now safer, which it is. But what sort of person goes to the bother of upgrading brakes in the first place? A risky one is the answer!:)
My standard brakes did used to fade, they were solid disks. :(

They need to own a mini :p Then they would know why people do these things!

From what I've been told, rollcages are a bad thing to do unless you have a full race harness, at least in a mini.

The fact a big piece of hard metal is right where your head will go if you crash is the main belief behind that, apparently.
