HMV Finally closing down for good?

The one in Plymouth is staying open which is good. Shame about the Trocadero one but I believe that complex is going to be redeveloped - it certainly needs it!

so where will trevor moore end up next.

whsmiths, marks and spencers, if he gets another top job in retail it just confirms what iv been saying that upper level retail managerial staff really dont have a clue.

Unless they start selling things people want at a reasonable price (not CDs and DVDs at £16.99) and not the same stuff constantly on sale, they're gone.

id expect there to be at least one independent store around loughborough, especially being a uni town.

Used to be a few independents.

Left legged pineapple
Castle records
Andy's records (think these were part of a chain)

All closed now.

Aye, local enough to there anyway. It's almost like the town has been forgotten, the local Councillors don't seem to know the arses from their elbows. The borough council just sits and watches as the town empties, confident that someone wants to pay the extortionate rates.

The only reason to go into town now is to grab a bite to eat, or go to the cinema. The latter being a rarity due to cost at Vue.

I hear Aldershot is getting a make over a la Farnborough style though? Not seen it myself, but definitely long over due.

Camberley will probably get it's make over in 2-3 years when they pedestrianise the high street, least the empty shop fronts will look a little prettier. :D

The only makeover that would do Farnborough any good involves several hundred tonnes of bombs dropped from a squadron of B52s... although admittedly the arse end of the town is a bit better now they've torn it down and built a bloody great Sainsbury's on it.

Aldershot's makeover is pretty much an open air version of the Vue cinema complex in Camberley, mostly the same restaurants, a Cineworld cinema and a whopping great Morrisons round by the Police station... with a huge Tesco 5 minute's walk away. Town centre still seems to be alive though, on the 'plus' side :D

The 37 stores that are affected by the latest round of store closures are: Ashford, Basildon, Bolton, Cheltenham, East Kilbride, Enfield, Folkestone, Glasgow Argyle, Gloucester, Grimsby, Hatfield Galleria, Heathrow Terminal 5 - Departure Level, Heathrow Terminal 1, Heathrow Terminal 3, Heathrow Terminal 4, Hemel Hempstead, High Wycombe, Isle of Wight, Lancaster, Leadenhall, Mansfield, Middlesbrough, Newbury, Newcastle Silverlink, Newport, Nuneaton, Redditch, Salisbury, Scarborough, Southport, Stafford, Staines, Stockport, Swindon, Taunton, Torquay and Woking.

they cant have many stores left now?

One less place to wander around when you're bored waiting in Heathrow airport it seems.

High Wycombe too, not entirely surprising but it's not even a particularly old store. Wonder what'll pop up in its place, probably another clothes shop, if there are even any that they don't have there yet.

I've no idea what they've done with the Canadian HMV stores to make them profitable. It will be interesting to see how their strategy changes for these UK stores.

indeed. i recently went into local one because there were closing down stickers all over the place and they were still overcharging 50% on products sold in argos a few doors down the street. i can understand them not competing with online stores but if you're taking the **** that much against other bricks and mortar stores, you're ****ed.

Grumble...
Went to drop into terminal 4 hmv to get some dvds for my trip and it was gone :(
Had been flying from Gatwick recently and was annoyed that there was no dvds there either!
