Hi all,

I was approached by a now good friend of mine Ben Hodson to mod his case. His case turned out to be the PC777 anniversary edition Lian Li case so we had to do something a bit unique to it (nothing really crazy but unique all the same).

Unfortunatly for me, Ben wanted grills drilled into the top panel of the case.

After much umming and ahhing we decided two grills were in order.

One template and mucho drilling later and I have in my very very strained hands ...

Each one of those holes are 3mm and in the same pattern as what is used on the rest of the case. I *think* there are roughly 1060 holes in those two grills.

Also, i made a template to use to make these grills, so in essence i've drilled that grill about 3 times not 2 lol

Needless to say I'm proud of what its come out like.

More modding to come to this case yet though.........a colour change is in order.

ITs having watercooling put into it once Bens decided on his components.

Also its being anodised, this week hopefully.

That must have been a long, boring (no pun intended) job. It certainly looks very nice though. 10/10 from me.

Which part of the case is that? The top panel?

I assume thats where the radiator will go but it is curved how will it fit!

I would have got bored after the first 10 holes. Looks good though, surprised it was done by hand :)

Its the top panel yea, the rad isnt going against the top panel. Its going below it in the CD drive bays so the air will go up through these grills

Just the top looks rather plain and boring, hence the grills. It would have been hard to fit a factory grill like the thermochill ones due to the curvature and that would detract from the overall case I think.

We wanted to keep the case clean and simple without adding anything to it.

Not going to make a customised curved rad then. :p

You have done an amazing job on that, how did you make a template? was it a bit of MDF or something that you have pre drilled or something?

Very tempted to do this on my case for the top, however now i have do0ne a blow hole on the side it may look a bit funny, will see!

Great Job though

I used an old Lian Li side panel which had a grill in it. Used that to drill a template into another old case panel i had.

so that way I had a Steel template so it wouldnt be affected when i drilled through it. It takes a long long time to do though.

interesting approach to get a grill - with my very limited resources i havent really considerd moding my Akasa Eclipse, however a drill i can manage - thinking about putting a mini grill above my psu - just let the heat out and such. Something to do :) im just scared of cocking it up !

looks VERY good mate - should be well proud. member to get pictures of everything you do up and of course the final product! cant wait to see it

10/10 for the finished effect. :)

I've thought about this type of mod but knew there would be one or two out, therefore spoiling the case.

That has been done astonishingly well - GL with the finishing of it - But if you did that good a job of the spacing etc - I'm sure the rest will go smoothly too.

It looks stock.

Perfect mod in my eyes from that picture, if you look at it and do not notice its a modification then its spot on for a Lian Li in my eyes, very good job there!

Thanks Yewen :)

Its meant be something a bit unique without being OTT.

Just a simple case mod that should help the watercooling side. Still lots of work to do on the case prepping for anodising though.
