Holey Moley - A case mod

 OMG that looks sweet! - ive done a similar one but on a plastic front bezel of a case! but this one is far better

AH HA, sandpaper is the key. the top surface is now smooooooth with no burr's.
A light rub down with some 800 grit took off the very slight burrs and did not affect the brushed aluminium one bit, although i took care to only sand in the same direction as it obviously.

EDIT: nice piccy for you - yes that is hand drilled ;)

LIES! :p

Seriously - Well done.
That is a sterling finish.

If only I could make a mod look that professional!

How did you take the curve into effect?
Drill the template then clamp it onto the curved surface?

Yea, i made the template then curved it slightly and clamped it on.

the curved surface was a little less curved when i was doing it and i was doing 2 inch sections at a time.

So once i did one section, i'd move the clamps down to the next 2 inches. that way it came out pretty uniform.

Im well happy how it turned out!

Wow Tom that rocks!!!

How long it take?

Any pics of the case with it on? see that 800 paper i sent ya is helping out!

hehe, the first pic shows the sheer number of holes that I had to drill.

Does look and feel sweet at the moment. Hopefully have a finished article this week or beginning of next week :)

Tom

Not only shows your skill but also your patience there Tom.

Looking forward to seeing the finished article. Great work.

Did you do all that with a hand drill
Or did you use a piller drill (still very impressive mind)

Always a big fan of low key mods on 'classic' styled cases - good work
