If it's just a resort holiday then go. Hurghada is very secure in that the whole area is surrounded by police checkpoints, hence why the supposed terrorist attack on those hotels was only carried out by 2 guys with knives. It's also a lot less high profile than sharm etc and generally the local people survive on tourism so it's in their interests to keep it safe. I went in 2014 including an excursion to the valley of the kings/kharnak etc which was spectacular. We also did some dodgy stuff such as getting the local bus to the nearest major city and having a wander around the backstreets which is the only time i felt a little unsafe as there were hardly any other tourists there and they were all sticking to the city centre.

The price, resort and weather look amazing.

Exactly why you shouldn't go. The price is what is because of the risk factor involved. Travel companies know it's not popular right now, for good reasons of safety, so are trying to flog it. There are other places that can offer the same price, accommodations, weather and you don't have to worry about terrorists.

I would be happy to go, actually probably will be heading in the near future. Though will be staying on a boat so away from land the whole time

I've been several times in including a couple of weeks after the bombings in 2007 (I think) if your at the right resort with lots of things to do then sure, I'd go.

Would skip sightseeing and some excursions.

As for people being ill, take some stomach tablets, avoid salad and ice (good places use bottled) and you should be fine

I've been twice. First time was a week before the London Bombings. We arrived by ferry from Cyprus. On route to the Pyramids in Cairo, we had to have an armed escort and they closed off all the roads as we passed as they feared car bombs.

Since, there have been terrorist attacks in both Sharm El Sheikh and Hurghada.

Nice place. But wrong time at present.

I wouldn't risk it mate.

Go anywhere else in the world. (Other than Turkey, Syria, Iraq etc etc etc)

Probably not op, do you think the risk is worth a get away?

Think about it.

Chances of something happening are indeed small, but a little break away isn't worth any risk, just go somewhere in Europe for cheap.

You're unlikely to get involved in anything but on the other hand Egypt is a cesspit. I've been to Cairo and Alexandria a few times on business and there is no way on earth I would consider Egypt for a holiday.

I think it's a absolute tragedy that a civilisation that at one time was so advanced could end up where it is today. Dirty, dangerous and the only way they seem to have of earning an existence is to rip of tourists.
