Holidays 2022

It was just through Hoseasons, I didin't get to see the insurance company name (if seperate from Hoseasons) the documents all had Awaze on them but I think thats just who owns Hoseasons.

Holiday flights have changed from:
Flying with Jet2, not Ryanair which is two hours later. Though flying to Reus (never heard of place).

Only down side is that the coach journey to Valencia is 3 hours instead of an hour. Plus not having a flight with Chavidorm (Benidorm) louts.

Jet2 can check in 3.5 hours before the flight.

Booked a family holiday to the Med for Christmas - prefer going in the summer, but haven't seen my family in a year. Surprisingly cheap for the 4 of us, but then again we don't have accomodation to pay for. Look forward to a break - but I took out pandemic insurance just in case...

Day in Amsterdam in October - had KLM vouchers to use so the flights were free. Arrive around 8am and leave at 10pm.
Booked here for lunch - https://restaurantdekas.com/ and bar that we will just potter around for the day and then back home.

A week in Morocco in November for my birthday. 4 nights in Marrakech followed by 3 in Essaouira. Looking forward to an extravagant hamam. Just excited to be somewhere different and eat lots of Moroccan food.

Got a week off in September so think I’ll take my tent and go up to Ullapool way and find a beach to camp on, sit looking at the stars with a bottle of whisky and myself for company.

I'd do your plan. Having driven with 2yr olds on long ass trips, whatever you do they'll vom at some point. Just prep for it, waze and add 2hrs to every expected journey for fuel and "leg stretching".

Just got back from the UK for a long weekend, which is kinda a holiday I suppose. Was a nice trip. Went 5 of us with kids and just took backpacks, which I have to say made the whole thing so much less stressful.

Heading to Croatia this Sat morning, driving there for a week. It's about 8.5hrs drive, but it's always shocking around St Gothard so no doubt it'll be 12 like it was last time. It's an interesting drive though, takes you through France, Switzerland, Italy, Slovenia and then Croatia.

It's been a pretty good year for trips, since it was all the things planned pre-covid finally happening, but ad-hoc additions. Already done a ski trip in Feb, Bordeaux in May, which was really a lovely start to the summer. 3 weeks in Thailand in April. Did Vegas for a week for a mix of business and pleasure (made work pay) in May. I am off to the UK for a week in Aug to see family. Vegas again in Sept with old work mates and thinking of squeezing a long weekend to Greece in in November.

I have decided my work life balance needed addressing, so will be spending as much time as possible in as many places as possible! haha
Croatia was lovely. Absolutely beautiful place.

Fun fact, Ryan Reynolds, Samuel L Jackson and Selma Hayek all stayed here when they filmed the hitman's wife's bodyguard as they had to film a scene at the vineyard over the road.

Then spent a week in the UK with my parents at their place. The kids love hooning about in the paddock on the ride on lawnmower.

Just got back from Sicily last night, which was absolutely stunning.

Head to the US in Sept for Vegas. Still unsure if I'm off to Boston for work, but if I do, it'll really **** of the ex wife   mainly cos it messes with arrangements etc.

Then still have Belgrade and Greece to finish off the year.

We are looking to book up Mexico, Cancun area for Oct 2023 - never been before; does anyone have any tips please? [5 adults, 1 child aged 12)
- Great places to stay?
- Places to avoid?

We've got Cape Town in Nov. 10 nights. Can't wait.

Shame, we're there in December. You'll eat and drink like a king, just dress like a local - ie, no posh watches or anything unnecessary bling.

And Joburg.

And Turkey next month.

And Holland in a few weeks.

Having been locked up in England for the last few years, we've got some lost time to make up for :D

Don't think we will see a holidays 2023 thread, make the most of it.
Planning going to Madeira in Sept 2023 for my dad's landmark birthday. They have a time share in a 2 bed apartment. Can already book flights now. But need to wait until its less a year to go to request time off work. About £850 with hold luggage for 3 of us.

Any specific hotel to stay at?

We stayed at the Iberostar Grand Paraiso in the Riviera Maya which was fantastic but is adults only but there are sister resorts next to it that allow children and are of various budgets. Think they were called Iberostar Lindo and Iberostar Del Mar. We've stayed in quite a few Iberostars around the Caribbean and Mexico and they've always been decent

Cancun is usually over run with young Americans which is probably why Ahleckz said to avoid it

We are going to trek Patagonia in Feb/March and trek the Galapagos in December and will probably have a couple of one week holidays in Europe for 2023

I'm planning a lot of breaks. I would love to do Prague, Berlin, Morocco, would like to go back to Portugal, also Albania is on my list, it looks great and is never shown as a place to go. Planning a couple of trips to Thailand to see my sister.

Currently in Copenhagen after spending the weekend at Legoland in Billund (I'd never heard of it either).

Copenhagen is a fantastic city. Lots of culture and food to explore. I can see why its rated as being a very highly liveable city. Phenomenally expensive though!

The urban planning puts anything in the UK to shame. I'm sure it helps being very flat and very big but the cycle infrastructure, public transport and cleanliness is so far beyond anything in the UK. It really makes you realise how poor the UK is in many respects.

Agreed - I really was blown away by Copenhagen - agreed with everything you surmised.

I think a lot of places make me think this these days whenever I come back.
