Holidays 2022

My best mate is coming over at the end of November to visit us and see the markets; they were on and then immediately off again last year due to Covid, so I'm hoping it will be a bit more stable this year.
Yeah thought that might happen. To be honest we'll be quite happy just to walk around. Landing Monday evening and we'll be traveling to my mum and dad's on Wednesday so only have one day really.

What’s Manchester like at the moment? Flying with Jet2 which you can check in 3.5 hours before the flight. Have a lounge booking which makes it easier for solo travellers.

We flew out of Manchester terminal 3 last week and it was as rubbish as expected. I'm sure terminal 3 was designed for about 10% of its current capacity.

Apparently it was quite a quiet time for security but we still were in the queue for around 45 minutes. Mainly due to idiots who didn't take everything out of their bag, so loads were getting the full bag search. (including my wife who decided to leave a metal tube of hand cream in her cabin bag).

I don't think it helped that our flight was delayed by 2 hours, so I'd lost the will to live by the time we finally boarded. Sitting in terminal 3 for 4 hours was not fun.

To be fair, the other 2 terminals aren't as bad, although I imagine security is just as long.

We flew from T3 early may and were through in 30min from arriving at the airport, that included dripping of suitcases. T3 is bit basic but always seem to have good experience flying from there.
Trip to France few weeks earlier from T1 was a nightmare. Over an hour just through the security and then they messed up loading the luggage. Had to wait for 2,5hrs for someone to turn up, remove couple of suitcases that were loaded by mistake and load a few more on.

I'm flying out from T2 next Friday.

Talking about security. My friend was behind a couple who had 2 litre bottles of soft drinks with them plus large bottles of toiletries all confiscated by security. They kicked off saying they have rights to carry these things with them in their hand luggage. She flew from Stansted

The liquid restrictions have been in place since 2006! Then my friend mentioned a massive queue for the 'bubble gum' machine that issues a ball with a clear bag for liquids in there. I still have a bag which I last used in 2019 in an internal pocket of my hand luggage bag.

Why do people still think they can take what they like to regards of liquids/gels etc in their hand luggage?

Travelled out of t2 Manchester a couple of weeks back. Checkin luggage belt broke down just as we were at front of queue so waited over 30 minutes for that to be fixed. Security took ages then the xray machine for our lane broke down so we waited ages for our trays to be moved to another scanner. Once through security all queues for food were ridiculous so we didn't bother. A guy walking in front of us in flip flops slid in a load of sick that had just been left with a wet floor sign and nearly went down. If he hadn't done that it might have been me. Then our tui flight was delayed nearly 2 hours as they didn't have any stairs.

How pathetic for your flight to be delayed because of no stairs? Surely to god, they aren’t forced to use TUI branded steps? Plus should have loads.

BTW what time was your flight? Mines 8:10am and can check in with Jet2 3.5 hours before. Can’t do online check in as it’s a touring holiday and seats booked by the tour company

Flight was meant to be 6.40. We got there just over 3 hours before and to be fair were through checkin and security with more than enough time.
