Ok I need to understand these smart switches. This one you install behind current flick switch. If you flick the switch to off mode, is the smart switch switched off? By extension bulb is also off?

Then there's the smart flick switch. Let's say you flicked it off, but have an automation for any bulb connected to it to turn on at set time. Does it still turn on or not?
 
That distinction between a relay behind the existing switch and a smart wall switch is useful. I can see why keeping the relay powered matters if you still want automations to run when the physical switch is off.

The physical switch is just a signal to the Sonoff, it doesn't cut power to it. This allows you to use the physical switch and the Sonoff independently to each other.
 
I am a week into owning Home Assistant Green as a first time user. My financee really wants a house alarm and i dont want to pay for a closed system so the home assistant journey started. I have alarmo working with a siren, amazon keypad and one motion sensor, with an additional two sensors being delivered today. Will likely add in a couple of door contacts front and back. I have been impressed!

Iv'e had an electrician in today to add new sockets in our master bedroom, three are Aqara Smart sockets and a samotech smart 3 gang light switch, with it all working. We have two ceiling lights in the room so went with a three gan switch. Now via an automation i can turn lights on and off with gang 1 and 2 independantly and with third gang i have used Gemini to automate a toggle to turn both of them on and off at the same time. Seems to work well.

I was going to put in 2 1600lumen Hue bulbs to get more light in the room as i thought they were the best for HA, what else is there that throughs out good amount of light?

Hue working fine with HA for me. The only pain is getting them paired, the easiest way is get a remote light switch. Otherwise its case of following various guides online and its hit and miss at best. Keep trying though and they will eventually pair.

Thats not a HA issue, its a Philips Hue pairing/security thing

Bought 3 used hue bulbs, only 1 pairs with the app. Then I was able to get that connected to HA. The light switch toggling doesn't seem to be working for me to reset it, pulling my hair out now.

Which keypad and siren? Do these connect over wifi or zigbee/zwave?

Do you have a Hue dimmer switch? If so then hold it next to the powered bulb and keep on and off on the switch pressed until the bulb flashes.

EDIT: and do yourself a favour - don’t cheap out on things unless you know what you’re doing. The cash you save on buying second hand or cheap Chinese kit will be quickly eradicated by the a,punt of time you spend trying to get things working. I’ve been there. I’ve got the pile electronic junk only fit for recycling…

I know it's not an issue with the controller itself, that is online and reachable from HA, I can also access the controller web interface and that shows the radio all running.

It's done it twice now with OS upgrades although I can't remember how which was the earlier version. I've reverted back to 2026.5.3 and everything is working perfectly again.

Has anyone bumped into this? I'll attempt all the incremental upgrades rather than upgrade to the latest and see where it fails. I don't really fancy pairing 100 zigbee devices again though, although I suppose if that's the only way forward then I think I'll ditch ZHA and move to Z2MQTT.

No issues here running ZHA on HA 2026.7.4. My SLZB is on firmware v3.3.1 and Zigbee Coordinator 20260311.
