Home brewing kits ....

Maybe you've already considered this but to be honest moving to AG instead wouldn't be that much hassle or expense compared to getting a giant 20L stock pot. Building your own boiler is very easy/cheap (£30ish). You'll almost certainly have a better time boiling the water and wort with that than a dodgy electric hob. That's certainly my experience anyhow :)

I think moving to AG will be a bit much tbh, from what I understand it's quite a messy business and you need a decent extraction system if you're doing it indoors? The other problem with my hob is the extractor fan is awful :(

Having said all that, an all in one boiler would be quite cool and that would mean i could consider using it outside I suppose instead of indoors - I'm not too worried about cost so don't mind buying one, would something like this do?

I would love to get into this properly. My sister bought me a homebrew kit for my birthday a few years ago which turned out pretty well. I even started doing research into Doing everything myself. Started pricing up stock pots and large ice boxes for wort brewing.

Once I move back to the uk I think I'll get back into it as getting things delivered out here is a bit of a pain.

Totally missed your response at the time sorry.

I tend to try to do my boiling outside or failing that, with windows (and even the kitchen door) wide open. I can't imagine that it's that much better when using extract kits though?

In terms of mess it's not that bad either - though disposing of all the spent grain and hops is a bit of a pain if you don't have a compost heap.

The Brupak stuff has a good rep from memory but it has been a while since I looked into it.

I brew with a mate who uses this:

Cheap and cheerful but works well (just a bit of fettling with the cooler connections was required I believe). You can get another 5% off as well through a discount code with one of the UK brewing forums.
It also means you can brew in the garage or outside ;)

Not done any brews in ages after i started getting into it, But can not wait to move into my new House and get brewing again.

Already built shed with power to it ! perfect for everything i want to get going :D

I'm very tempted to move to all grain, just a bit put off by the amount of kit needed.
I've barely got room for the kit I have now haha

You don't need much kit if you use the BIAB method, in fact if you already have the stuff for extract or kit brewing you probably need very little indeed.
What is your current kit?

I've got 2 fermenting vessels, one for the ferment, one I mix the sugar in before bottling.
Then siphon/bottling wand/hydrometer/etc

If you want to try it then just buy a stockpot and piece of voile, or just the latter if you already have a good sized pot.
The voile is only a few quid and if you are happy to do a smaller batch then potentially that is the only outlay to try it.
