Home drinking - cider / perry tasting notes

If you can find someone selling it, get some Stowfords Press :)

i second this motion. love it.

also, if you can get hold of it.. this one..

here

stronger than brother festival, but tastes so much better! you'd swear it wasn't 8.2% lol :p

as mentioned also, get some jacques cider, the yellow variety. you'll like that.

Also add some of the Thatchers single apple range, Westons Organic and some Sheppy's.

Thatchers' Katy is exceedingly nice. As is Stowford Press. My local Waitose carries Black Fox which is my favourite treat when I have a few £ spare.

I had a pint of Thatcher's Gold while in Devon last week. Pretty nice & came with a 'frozen cider head', which was a bit like a 1cm layer of cider slush-puppy. Good novelty value but in the sunshine it melted pretty fast.

All the westons' ciders are lovely, especially the oak conditioned one...

There's a pub in bristol that serves nothing but cider and perry, great in the summer.

aye, the one i linked to, you cant get to unless you click the link once to say you're 18, then click it again to get to the page i was linking (which i believe is oak conditioned stuff) its called..

Henry Westons Vintage Special Reserve

Love the Thatchers range, would definitely recommend that.
Like the Westons stuff to...
And some others, not sure of their origin since they're kept in the back room at the pub:
Black Rat
New Forest
Biddenden

I discovered Kopparberg Pear Cider last Friday... now, after not liking beer or cider for 4 years, I simply couldn't stop drinking this stuff.... :D

My find of the year :D

I don't really know what this threads for

I can understand making a tasting thread about £50+ bottles of whiskey or whatever but these are just mainstream trash ciders, spend £3 and find out for yourself what it tastes like. Maybe try and focus the thread on the more unusual / harder to get hold of speciality ciders?

I ignored Thatchers Gold for ages assuming it would be awful. I have to say it's quite nice and the ICE doofer is lovely on a hot day.

Oh, and Old Rosie... avoid it like a bad-aids infected scitzophrenic rottweiler that's just received an enormous telephone bill. Unless you enjoy brain shattering hangovers & vomiting at 10am.

I just bought some El Gaitero Spanish Cider from Waitrose, will be trying it later tonight.

I quite like it, reminds me a bit of sweet sparkling wine. Drinking a couple of Scrumpy Jacks at the moment as it is my favorite but if i have more than 4 500ml cans i get a headache :(

Kopparberg tastes like bananas to me which means i feel it gets a bit sickly after a while! Aspall is one of my favourites id say just because its on draft in my regular! :)
