Homeless!

I've been living in southampton for the last five years and only moved back up here recently. So the only people I know in this town are the people I work with, and I don't really know them well enough ask if I can sleep at theirs. :o

Shame it doesn't sound like I'll get any help from the council. Looks like the system is geared towards helping scroungers. :/

Anyway, cheers for the advise, fingers crossed I'll get into the staff house. :)

Staff house seems like the best option to go for at the moment, don't put all your eggs in one basket though :D

Where are you living now? You could have gone and crashed with Burnsy, Sic and all the other scummers for a few days if you hadn't moved :D

And tbh, I'd rather be homeless here than live in Southampton again. ;) :D

That could be potential sig material for me in the future :D Especially for when all the scum start trying to blow their own trumpets :D

I assume Leicester is your original home/birth place/most of adult life kinda area? If so mate it's better to be somewhere where you at least know is familar.

It's a shame you aren't a scrounger with 6 kids because a free house would sort you out right about now, eh? :)

Hold your head high, I'm sure you will sort something!

Some people on this forum are real d-bags. Good way of showing sympathy to his situation, which in all fairness, isn't a great one to be in.

Hey, I got an idea; instead of trying to offer some advice to a friend in need, I'm going to berrate him with questions and opinions that are quite frankly formed with a lack of oxygen to the brain - because of the altitude on the high horse.

Anyway seek, as others have suggested, have you got any friends you can crash just over the weekend while you sort yourself out? Any acquantance would do, even family like cousins or Uncle's etc?

You need to get out of a hotel too if you can, if it's going to be like that you need to find a cheapo B&B to save some cash for anything more seriously needed.

You won't get sorted with any free house because you are actually working and doing things the way most proud people would.

Good luck with it mate, keep us updated!

Does anyone live in your area from these forums who could even help out? Just a thought...

My comment was a light hearted joke, which was retracted a few posts after so get over yourself.

where abouts near Leicester ?

Market Harborough.

I can't find out about the staff house until 5pm, so I'm basically just killing time right now. I picked up a few lists of flats from estate agents but prices are stupidly high for one bedroom places. Two bedroom places are reasonable, but I don't know anyone to share with. :/

I don't want to put all my eggs in one basket with the staff house, but I don't have a lot of options right now. :(

The council should let you live in a hostel since you're homeless, then eventually a shared house or something.

You're only 15 minutes on the train from Leicester, there will be tons of houseshares there.

True, but I work split shifts (start at 9am and finish11pm, with 2-4 hour break in the afternoon). Plus I often get called in randomly when I'm not working. So I have to live close to the hotel. Not to mention the fact that the train is hellishly expensive these days. It would cost me £60 a week to commute from Leicester.

Of course I could get a different job in Leicester (or anywhere) but I really don't want to do this as I love my current job and want to keep it.

If there is someone in management at your hotel that you get on well with, saying the above will count for a lot towards getting help from them.
Unless they hate you lol

All true - it may not have sunk in yet though, you have nowhere to live :p That's kind of a big deal :p

15 minute commute for £60 a week vs sleeping...??????

Why can't you affod to rent. A room in a shared house including all bills should only be around 200-300 a month assuming you aren't in london. There is also a scheme where the council can pay your deposit for you.

There are no shared houses available here at the moment (that I can find).

And a single bedroom place will be at least £300+council tax+maintanence bills etc. Not to mention the fact that I would need a deposit+first months rent up front, which I can't afford. Even if the council did pay the deposit I'd still struggle.
