Homemade Doner Kebab

Head cheese isn't vomit inducing.

It's a pretty rank idea, but not unheard of. I imagine you've had very similar if you've ever had cheap sausages...

I might be biased because my first experience of it was holding half a pig head above a gas hob to burn off the hair..then doing that several more times before adding the heads to a massive tub (about 10 times the volume of your average sink) to boil down for 6 hours.

If they're horrified by that then they ought to consider becoming vegetarian. It's only a bit of lamb

Agreed. I was merely trying to give them some kind of point of reference.

Lots of people (though hopefully not that many in La Cuisine) seem to have very little practical experience with food preparation/etc. I guess in this day and age of pre-diced meat and fast food this shouldn't be surprising though.

Dunno why people are complaining this sounds tasty - its the real donner that is actually horrendous. For the photo next time just remove the lamb foam and toast with a blow torch

Nobody is complaining, or saying they wouldn't eat it or that the final result isn't lovely, or that they're 'horrified'.

2 people said the pic made it look ugly.

And here's the thing... In that pic, It's ugly.

Third pic looks great. Serve it with some cucumber/mint (& greek yoghurt) relish. Yum. :)

To be honest I'd be worried about the chemicals released as cling film is heated but a quick google suggests that it should be relatively safe up to a bit over 100C.

Cling film is fine to cook with.

@VanHellseek: All that's needed on a kebab is lettuce, onions, whole chillies and garlic mayo. Bosh.

Yeah looks like a good recipe but kebabs are for fat slobs nonetheless :p

Well not really, it's the cuisine for an entire culture. Kebabs from takeaways, yes, but decently cooked doner kebabs with actual meat in are fine. Pretty crap information you have right there.

Why not?

I went on a cooking course and the instructor cooked chicken wrapped in clingfilm in boiling water and said clingfilm was ok up to 200-250 degrees C.

Heat + plastics = what's called "loose juice". It's not a good thing to be ingesting.

Sorry for double post but...

Absolutely delicious, thanks for the recipe.

Not enough filling! It needs to be really badly packed! ;)

Looks great though - nicely done! :)
