I'd like to bet you wouldnt know the difference in crysis between 25FPS and 40FPS, if fact I would bet my jag!

You have to be joking. The difference is massive. I simply couldn't play a shooter at ~ 20fps. I find 40 to be far from perfect.

Me thinks the increasing demand of pc games in recent years has taught some poeple to settle for jerky framerates. Compared to the same game running at 60 it looks like complete arse.

I didnt say any game, just Crysis due to it handling low FPS very well. If some-one sat you infront of the demo 2 times once with a consant 25FPS second with consant 30FPS your answer would be a total 50/50 guess.

nah it just wouldn't be. It handles low fps ok but not better than various other games i could mention. I'd definitely be able to tell 100% and so could a lot of other people obviously. It does seem almost everyone disagrees with you on this one i'm afraid :)

For me..30fps is sorta semi-playable...anything lower is really really noticable. 40fps feels pretty nice but the mouse movement only properly smooths itself out after about 50-60fps which feels great but i wouldn't say 60fps on crysis feels as smooth as say..60fps on unreal 3.

I couldn't agree more :D

on low/med 1280x1024 i got around 20fps, which is just playable in my mind, the gfx dont look too great on mine, but the physics are still great, would it be worth playing on a lower res? is it my processor which is holding me back?

I ran crysis on a similar rig to yours dss, 8600gt with 2gig geil, 5200 x2. It ran at about 15 frames on low setting, 8-10 on medium. Was playable but with a lot of stuttering and buffering of the card.
