Do i have a slight hope of running crysis at a playable level?

3200+ 2GHz 939
2GB 3200DDR
8600GT

I think I saw a video or two a while ago on gametrailers.com where they were playing crysis on a rig sort of similar to that. However they were using a slightly faster intel processor (if my memory serves me right). And even though it says they were using 2gig of RAM as well, it was probably DDR2. They were using an 8600 though and it looked pretty smooth.

Like shnipps said though, try the demo :)

You'll be able to run it on low at a playable fps. Probably. However I seem to be a dying breed of player who can't bare to play at anything less than 40fps. I see so many ppl on here who post screenies with fraps in the corner reading 20 odd and shouting I can run this on high!! No you can't.

Extremely optimistic, my rig gets slowdown at those settings and it's a 2.54ghz core 2 duo with 4gb memory and 8800GTS.

i can run the crysis demo all on really high with no aa. there is a little slow down. im running 8800gtx, stock e6600, 4gb ram at 1280x1024

Same apart from I have a 6850 C2D. It runs fine at very high on that res. To be honest at a stretch its very playable at 1600 with PP on high rest on very high

20FPS in crysis is just playable. I'd like to bet you wouldnt know the difference in crysis between 25FPS and 40FPS, if fact I would bet my jag!

That's because you're running in Vista on DX10. Either that or something is very wrong!

Try running it in DX9 mode, it'll run so much smoother.

Better hand me the keys then.

I can easily tell the difference between 25 and 35FPS. I've been mucking around with the settings the apst few days, trying to find a happy medium between getting it looking great and cracking a level where I don't really notice the slowdown. That level appears to be about 30FPS.

lol how daft :p...i could tell the diff between 25fps and 30fps nevermind 25fps and 40fps! Your eyes can just tell after you've played games for years and years.

EDIT - damn i was beaten to it!!!

There's a difference between noticing it being lower FPS and it becoming an issue.

Below 25FPS it starts to become an issue. I find mouse response is noticeably more laggy and as a result, the game becomes much much less playable.

I've found that turning Shaders to Medium gives me about 35FPS which makes the perfectly playable....unfortunately, this takes away most of the beauty of the game, the lighting is pretty crap, and I don't get the better post-processing features, such as sunbeams.

20fps is really bordering on unplayable tbh by anyones standards surely. Although, by the time i'm old enough to insure most jag's i might not be able to tell either :D lol

Seriously though, i find 40-50fps really flows ok when knocking some stuff down but the eye candy looks so nice!...give me 200fps solid anyday though :p

Once again, it's just like MP3 quality. Some people can tell the difference between 192KBPS and 320KBPS and some people can't.

Personally, I can see the difference between 25 and 40fps on a lot of games.. but not on Crysis.

Thats a strange one cos for some reason 192 always sounded "better" to me!

I tend to get "super duper" fps on all max apart from process / shaders / shadows all on low @ 1920x1200 ..still looks pretty reasonable and unbelievably smooth @ 50-60FPS + compared to 30 :( wish i could see it running like that with all the eye candy on tbh :(

I didnt say any game, just Crysis due to it handling low FPS very well. If some-one sat you infront of the demo 2 times once with a consant 25FPS second with consant 30FPS your answer would be a total 50/50 guess.
