Hoping to upgrade my Lenovo ideapad 3 internal SSD

It's slower and not as robust as TLC.
Nothing wrong with the 870 Evo but the Crucial MX500 is better value.

I'd never hear of Crucial until I started seing what's on the market and asume they werer an obscure Chinese com[any so I had a quick gander on the website to see if they're legit.

seventy five quid for 1 tb? sounds tasty.

1tb for seventy five quid sounds tasty but the cable I need comes in packs.

Decisions. Decisions. Decisions.

I tell customers to stick with what thyey know like I do and I'd never heard of Crucial until i started looking around and considered Samsung as my Plan-A becuase it's a well known and trusted name.

As for Currys I'm only going along with what I'm told (Don't you hate being told two different things on the same subject?).

I couldn't work for Currys due to the different specs, models and different brands.n It'd be too much information for me to handle and I don't know how their staff manage.

To fit that drive you'll need Lenovo cable part number 5C10S30041, if you're going to currys to fit the drive i wouldn't bother, they probably won't be able to do it.

The way things're going I might haveto take the sadi drive to the Manchester Arndale market and go to the stall that deals in computers because the official onovo shop're out of stock and amazon don;t do them and i'm not going on ebay just for one item

here's the model number

15IMH05

That model is an IdeaPad Gaming 3, it needs the cable number 5C10S30065 but it's not going to be any easier to find.

Did currys open the laptop to see what's inside before telling you they could fit the drive and tell you to get a 2.5 inch drive?

They may think they're replacing the NVMe drive.

on Ebay/AMAZON it shows up as HDD but will the said part fit the crucial mx500

Yeah it'll fit any 2.5 inch sata drive, your laptop also supports a second NVMe drive which would be a better option if you haven't already bought the drive.

Thanks
i've just opened an Ebay account out of deperation but also had a look on Amazon based on the fresh information so are you dure it'll fit the Crucial MX500 becuase I've just ordered the said cable from Amazon.

I closed the ebay account.
The official Lenonvo shop were out of stock.
I didn't trust the other sides Google pointed me in the direction of.

The new SSD's just arrived at the co-op's Amazon locker (anybody know how much these things cost to rent?) and the cabl'es due to arrive tomorrow at the same destination so I might as well get them both at the same time..

Both the right lead and the drive're waiting for me to pick up while I'm working tomorrow but how do I feel about doing the job myself. I've got seperate places for the screws ready, the screwdriver on standby, the work surface cleared, business cards to help open the thing with on standby

Thanks for telling me how easy it looks and sounds.
Wish me luck and I'll let you know how it goes....

SUCCESS!!! I was going to attempt it myself but I couldn't get the right screwdriver size and I didn't want to risk damaging the screws so I ended up having to take it to Currys (I didn't even have any alcolhol or a cup of tea beforehand either).
At least the plan for the Currys option was 100% successful becuase I did a bit of shoping, had something to eat and went for a couple of pints.

Anyway. I finally got the SSD drive upgraded...

At least I was going to have a go at it.
