Horizon Zero Dawn

Nixxes are just on it

Not just Nixxes, Weaseltron also worked on it. They're specialists in code and graphics and have worked on a lot of projects. They seriously know their stuff, and I think it shows here, as this remaster works way better 'out of the box' than the original PC version did - and looks way better.

Right, so I got around to downloading the original and then you can import your save to the remastered.

I can load up my level 60 NG+ character fine.

But I can't start a New Game+ from the main menu. Shouldn't that be unlocked now?

Nevermind, solved it.

Opened up an original game near the end (The Looming shadow, go to the rest point) then completed that final mission again and it allowed me to start New Game+ from the outset.

Loved diving back into this after finishing it originally on PlayStation. It's crazy to me the hate these games get, all seems a bit forced. Despite all the nonsense over this coming out I think the remaster is fantastic.

There's something special about these games which keep me playing them. I've tried playing various open world games recently, including several Assassin's Creed games and Avatar, and they just don't grab me. Got the Zero Dawn remaster (After having completed the original PC version when it released), and instantly got addicted. Started replaying Forbidden West after Zero dawn and got addicted again.

I think it's a combination of the story and performances - some of the best characters and companion interactions since Mass Effect - the world building, and the core gameplay loop.

Biggest downside is waiting for the next game to release then another year or so for the PC version before I can see how the story finishes.

Yes, I agree. I've only played the first one so far, but it's certainly one of those memorable titles that stands out. Great graphics, excellent story and felt fresh and new with a sense of achievement at the end.

I'm the complete opposite. I have no desire whatsoever to engage with the boring characters and their endless boring dialogue trees. I want to fight robo-dinosaurs. I got 15 hours into the first game, and 4 or 5 hours into the second before giving up. There's just not enough game, and too much story.

Agree with all of that. Going back to HZD after getting the platinum on the PS5 version of FW made me appreciate the additions they added in the sequel. Jumped to my death a few times thinking I could glide

Most of the Forbidden West additions are great (Though flying does negate some of the exploration aspect), but I'm not a fan of the upgrade system for the weapons, which requires too many difficult to obtain components which you really have to grind for.

Yeah the grind in Forbidden west was ridiculous.

Particularly when some of the more epic enemies don't regularly drop what you need.

Definitely agree with that, to get some of them was absolutely ludicrous. I just didn't bother in the end and that was with over 100hr before playing Burning Shores.

In game settings you can adjust the drop rate for components. Once I was near the end of the game I did that to avoid having to needlessly grind Apex Slaughterspines etc.

Good call! There are a lot of different options but I forgot those options were there. I did turn on auto-pickup for resources which helped a lot too.

Interested to see the new DLSS 4 and FSR 4 in this, Ghost of Tsushima and you never know Cyberpunk. That'll be me for the rest of the year then
