Horrid

Ive had the pleasure of a Mitsi Colt 1.0 or 1.2 or something this week while my car was in the bodyshop

Jesus christ, worst new car ever. Lack of power is ridiculous, 80mph saw 4100rpm so very very noisy on the motorway. 175 width tyres provided literally no grip, and the ABS seemed to kick in every time i broke. Interior felt like it was going to fall apart.

Words cannot describe how rubbish that car was.

I couldn't get over how gutless it was. I've only ever driven 1.6's apart from the 1.2 Corsa I learnt to drive in but i'm soo glad I didn't go and get a sub 70bhp car as a first one. The worrying thing is he pays £1250 tpft for a car worth £350 theiving insurance people!!!

I think sometimes I wish that I'd have got an old 306 diesil for the first year and just gone off roading in it and go through floods etc because it's fun.........but then I realised it's french and it would just die like mine would :D

The old Fiestas seem to have a lot more poke than the newer ones. A consequence presumably of all the extra weight nowadays but little or no extra power.

The worrying thing is......it's a 1994 Fiesta 1.1 and it has 2 airbags. I have an 02 plate Saxo with 1 air bag.

What were the French thinking???

The newest Fiesta I've driven was an 'H' reg about ten years ago. It was a 1.0 popular IIRC, and it was horrifically gutless. In contrast a mk.2 (T reg IIRC) 950cc had plenty of go in comparison, probably because it would have weighed 100kg+ less. Also an 'A' reg 1.1, which had more than enough power just for normal driving.

Oh and both of the older ones had short gearing which is essential for such low powered engines.

(btw, none of those were my own car, I would never buy such a thing)

(actually is 78/T mk.1 or mk.2? not sure)

Isn't the Colt the same car as the Smart ForFour?

My 1.25 Fiesta was alright I felt. Was hardly a rocket ship but had enough go so it wasnt impossible to pull out at busy junctions.

I once had to drive a Diesel Merc Van (forgot what its called ) - it is the slowest thing i have ever driven! made my fiesta 1.25 seem like a supercar in comparison

I know it's a van but still, this thing was sooooooo slooooooow i'd nail it on dual carrigeways and still be overtaken by lorrys

I've always wondered what the point was of a four wheel drive Fiat Panda :D I mean it's neither an off road nor a performance vehicle..... so erm why?

Dont they use the older ones all over Africa on rough ground?
