Hot desking at work... bring your own mouse and keyboard?

Hot desking can work very well if implemented correctly with all appropriate supporting facilities and services in place.

What you do find though is those that moan about it stating its pointless, time wasting, and thought up by cretins are also the same people asking for pay rises/bonuses or the flexibility to work from home. Some companies (obviously not all) implement cost saving initiatives such a hot desking to reduce expense base rather than remove bonuses or even worse the employees themselves.

Haha, I've not seen that film. Is it worth watching?

Watch it. You'd be quite surprised. I decided to watch it when some here said it was awful last year.

There is a few awkward face twisting moments but it is funny.

Sounds like a pain. What's the logic behind it?

saves space/don't need as many desks

if you've got a bunch of people working from home 1 day a week, various people spending time at client sites, on sales trips + annual leave, sickness etc.. you could perhaps get rid of 20 to 30% or so of the desks/office space

you've also got some flexibility for people to move about to sit with different people depending on the project they're working on
