Following *that* thread, I went on a bit of a open-road-racing googlefest this afternoon and ended up (yet again) at Hot Rod Magazine's feature on Big Red.

So I started reading features again...Not been through them for a long time.

The benefit to you?

Lots of lovely pictures in one easy-to-follow thread!

(I know some may have been posted before...)

What happens when you’re a diehard Camaro fanatic with kids? In the case of Los Angeles plumbing contractor Kevin Harris, neither he nor his wife Lisa were willing to give up their daily driven ’60s Camaros when the stork arrived with little Kyle and Camille. At first the child seats fit pretty well in the F-cars’ purely ornamental back seats, but as the kids (now 5 and 4) grew, more space was needed. So Kevin rounded up a rough but complete ’72 Chevy Concourse wagon (it has a ’70 front clip) and gave it a cost-conscious yet well executed makeover into a never-was SS454 that’s consumed a mere $14,000 of the kiddies’ college fund.

By doing everything except the bodywork, paint, and upholstery by himself, and using the 454 and TH400 transmission from one of his retired work trucks, Kevin’s clean wagon offers proof that it’s entirely possible to have a family and cool hot rods at the same time.

'72 Malibu wagon with the front clip from a '70. 454 motor and a TH400 'box. Great car :)

Beaten by a more comprehensive post from penski.

Hmm im not so keen on the muscle cars, its the rat rods that do it for me :D
That bus is awesome, i have seen similar ideas at a small show where my mates boat is moored(we went boating). There was a tranny with a small block supercharged, a yellow really old tranny with a mid mounted jensen 5l v8 supercharged and a sierra pickup with a rover v8 SC'd.
I love the idea of making something so dull tear your face off:D

There's a Yellow Bedford with a chrome grille and mid-mounted V8...That what you're thinking of?
