hotmail.com email address when you are from the UK

I have both hotmail.com (v. old!) and googlemail - you can send to gmail.com and you still get the mail!

both mine are my forum name - guess it's quite rare (or I'm too old...)

EDIT: The gmail thing has already been said in previous posts - D'OH!

Didn't read all, so prolly already answered, but you only get .com or live.com now, didn't microsoft do away with .co.uk?

I have one from waaaaaay back when... and no, you can't have it.

Booooooiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii.

The advantages of having a .com are great too, I don't have to queue in shops and always get discount at ihaveadotcom.com

And? As far as I understand .com isn't country specific (although a lot of people seen to think it is.) which is one reason people would prefer it over .co.uk.

How is that a reason to make all this effort not to have .co.uk at least with .co.uk people know you're from england. And tbh, it's just a domain.
I don't like the idea of a .com, it seems so american.

I like .com because it's short and everyone knows it. There are shorter like .be but they aren't as well known.

I ditched my ancient hotmail one for a live.com when that hack was circulating just before it went live so to speak. I got a nice short name and the online interface works in harmony with the view I get in outlook at home.

Who the hell still uses MSN for anything let alone email.

I know. The Hotmail interface is vile. I don't know why anyone would choose it over a Gmail one...

I just use the Hotmail account as a decent backup to my main domain email, as I don't want to use that for everything. Besides, the web interface isn't too bad in classic mode and it works great in Outlook as well.
