"Hotswappable HDDs" ?

Can I plug in a HDD into my PC (which is already running) and then open the HDD in "My Computer" without having to restart?

If so, how?

look in bios it will say or give u the option to enable hot swappable ports,its in there somewhere cos ive seen it,just enable it and plug hd in and out

I think sata is hot swappable

Board has to support the function and AHCI has to be enabled.

shouldnt be any risk,it will simply be like plugging in a usb memory stick only a hdd/ssd instead

All my drives (3) are hot swappable in my Lian Li v1000 case with an internal hot swap bay.
Using AHCI and windows 7 x64 Ultimate. The SATA cables plug into the back of the bay and the drives can be slid in or out on the rails

It is useful to run another OS very simply.
