But it's fair to hold a gun to her tenants heads by threatening to evict them? Oh sorry I forgot tenants are second class citizens in this country right  How is it fair that homeowners can get mortgage holidays, income protection etc from their bank yet tenants are being made homeless within two months notice?

More importantly, I finally watched the video and where does it say she even has tenants in? I took it to mean she doesn't have any tenants in the property right now, so she'd be free to sell or whatever.

Also, last point. If you own a property and you're made jobless, you can claim benefits immediately. On the other hand if you're a tenant who has been sensibly saving up for a rainy day and have more than £16k in the bank, the government will tell you to GTFO of the claims office and you'll be entitled to nothing. Another example of tenants getting screwed at all economic levels in this country.

They aren't paying. So yeah. It's not a charity. They should get council housing then.

If you have £16k then put a deposit down on a cheap place and buy it.

That's enough to buy a £160k property which means you can buy something in most places but not the centre of London obviously. Or a £320k property with a 5% deposit when those mortgages were available.

You're saying home owners are exempt from means-testing?
No, but given high deposits it's more likely a tenant saving for a deposit is going to have that sort of money. Homeowners could as well, but denying them benefits doesn't have such a negative effect on them as someone who is trying to save a deposit. They're already on the "ladder".

By that argument a homeowner shouldn't get any help from their mortgage provider if they're made jobless and should be turfed out and repossessed in two months a well, right? Because, ya know, banks are not a charity...

What do banks normally do when you don't pay your mortgage?

Do they let you live there?

They take the house and sell it usually for a very good price too for a quick sale.

Also these so called mortgage holidays aren't free. Your still being charged interest and now it's more because you aren't paying off any capital. So it's a win/win situation for the banks. So it's not exactly like the banks are losing any money in this game. They still get their interest and now they get even more than they normally would.

But you completely overlooked that. Honest mistake.

And people who don't pay rent still owe that money. They're eventually taken to court and the landlord recovers their money with Libor + 8% interest (unless they declare bankruptcy).

But you also completely overlooked that. Dishonest mistake.

In majority of cases they don't recover anything.

It's why these people don't pay the rent in the first place they have nothing you can take from them.

You really aren't clued up at all.

The best outcome is usually an eviction. Then you have to pay more to enforce that eviction.

It's a lose/lose situation. Nothing like the banks at all.

Delaying payments for a month is hardly letting them off. As said they simply move everything back 3months

Haha. No they don’t.

So you want the government to help you evict people who have literally nothing (who you willing signed a contract with) so that you get your investments stay in top shape, lol.

Landlord class entitlement at its best. Maybe you shouldn't have signed a contract with people who had nothing expecting them to pay you all their money every month.

Landlord class at its best.

Where did I say that?

I said they should either cover the rent or let them evict.

What they shouldn't do is stop evictions and not cover the rent which is what they are doing.

Try and keep up.

Landlords willingly let their property to their tenants, they should have thought of this and properly managed that risk, like all businesses have to do. They can always go through the legal process like everyone else who has a dispute with someone does and stop moaning about how unfair everything is.

Landlords should stop expecting the government to bail them out when their investments don't pay off.

Are you really this clueless?

That legal recourse has been taken away.

Please stop, you're making a fool of yourself now.

Yes they should have planned for a pandemic, a tenant who doesn’t pay and the government banning evictions.

Regulations have changed and are not in your favour, tough luck. Deal with it. That happens in every industry and businesses deal with it.

If you're not happy with how profitable landlording this right now, do another business or get another job.

Over a million businesses went bust due to the pandemic and changes in laws. And it wasn't their fault. **** happens. Landlords are not special breeds of human beings that deserve to be bailed out above everyone else.

I can see how well businesses dealt with the pandemic.

Debenhams, Topshop, Edinburgh woollen mill, Dorothy Perkins, etc all did great as did many others.

Local cafes, pubs and restaurants are doing great too.

This is great keep telling us more on how well hey dealt with this scenario.

I'm sure all the people out of jobs are much happier now.

Not asking for a bail out just the freedom to evict non paying tenants.

Does the business you work for sell on credit? How would they do if I say bought a lot of stuff on credit refused to pay and the government stepped in and said you can't do anything about it because Covid?

You can't get get whatever is left back either.

Deal with it.

You should run for prime minister.

How about you deal with house prices going up and stop whinging like a woman on here? Prices went up by £100k who cares, deal with it.

Don't like rising house prices?

Deal with it.

Well the day the landlord employs as many people as those businesses do, we can talk about bailing their employees out :p

Yeah, people refuse to pay and we'd have to sue them. We don't expect the government to pay their bills like you do.

You can't get get whatever is left back either.

Much sexism, lol.

The only one whining here is you, about how unfair the rules are to poor landlords and that the government doesn't just pay you rent.

As for house prices, yes, I don't expect the government to buy me a house, in the same way that you're expecting the government to pay you rent.

Bit you do expect the government to buy you a house.

You want them to tax landlords into the ground. To the point they give you the house for nothing.

You have whined about taxes and houses being too expensive throughout the whole thread.

Why can't you deal with it?
