Living here in the states now I kinda miss the huge British house spiders. So (inspired by the other current spider thread...) I'm here to issue a challenge. It's spider season back there in the UK. Go hunting (or just wait for one to start eating your face) for the biggest specimen you can find, trap it, place a coin next to it for size, and snap a piccy of the beast. Then post it in here and let's see who wins! You may also name your new arachnid buddy (for reference) if you wish. Nice fresh specimens please - no mangled corpses on the bottom of a slipper  The winning spider will go down in OCUK folklore

So....away you go......and no cheating!

A few people on here keep spiders, so we could see some posts of them.

Do ones you have seen in the patio count, as yesterday i killed this massive beast of a thing, dont even know if it was a spider, but it had spikes on the back of it, and big fangs. Might have had wings, so probably not a spider, but even withstood a patio chair ontop of it, really had to press down to kill it. Was there for a few days not moving from the same spot before i decided to do it in.

Also in us here, so i might be able to find some beauties.

UK house spiders only please :)

Can i post up a huntsman when they come out? Its almost summer so we should have lots of them

Last night my two daughters and their boyfriends are in the living room watching a film and the next thing the youngest is screaming her head off. I run in and the boys have got their feet up on the chairs, my eldest is laughing but the youngest is having a fit. Daddy picked the spider up, dropped it outside and it was a beaut.

Hmm......if only this thread was posted a week ago i could have posted pics of three house spiders, the smallest being about 2 inches long the biggest must have been just over 3 inches and could run faster than Linford Christie!

I'm sure it was chasing the dog around the house.

Ah man!!!

Missed this post, me and the fiancé was watching tv the other night and a saw summit out of the corner of my eye......

Well this thing looked like it had just walked out of 'Golds Gym' after a heavy session on the bench press, the other half hit the roof and instisted I "get that ****** thing out of here" hehe she make me chuckle

So I put a glass over it and paper underneith and threw it out the door..

If it comes back lol I will snap the begger in a picture :D

FULLY star out swearing. FF.

Snapped this one the other night, phone didn't do a great job of focussing & there's nothing to reference the size against but it was BIG!

The shadow adds an extra bit of  to that one.

Bri & Bunka, those are two freaky looking spiders. Killers for sure.

I am NOT a fan of spiders whatsoever. I had one chase me round the kitchen the other day. Had to get Mrs Nelson to evict it. *the shame*

ewwwww I hate spiders

When ever I see one I either catch it in a cup and throw it outside or get a paper and swat that sucker :D
