how bad is your mpg commuting to work?

I get around 36MPG on a 2.0 TDDI Mondeo, 70 mile commute average around 30Mph.
This is on Home made Bio-diesel so expect economy to be less than that of mineral dieselbby around 10%

15 mpg on my way to work and about 14 back from work ( road tends to be empty at 10-11pm so I floor it all the way home really, occasionally have a quick traffic light GP with some colleagues from work ).

3 mile trip ( which takes 20-25 minutes when I go to work, 10 minutes on the way back), from cold, first mile is 20mph zone with lots of speedbumps, the next 2 miles is a 30mph dual carriegeway with traffic lights every 300 or 400 yards ( or more, I can count at least 10 in a quick count in my head), then a final 300 yard stretch with terrible ''1st gear'' speedbumps at my work's private terrain where I tend to floor it in between em as I'm so annoyed by them.

Very bad I know and I could easily get 20 mpg if I drove calmly but meh it's my money.

My commute is about a mile so I try to make it as exciting as possible by bouncing it off the limiter all the way.

30.5 mpg average according to the computer in my 9000 Aero, in terms of miles out of the tank about 30 is right. No dual carriageway, just normal A-roads for 12 miles there + back. Wouldn't be suprised if i got down to about 25 on the way home though :)

I don't thrash it, I barely tickle it to and from work, it's all 30 limits and a boring drive.

What is more unbelievable is my A road weekend, which saw an average of 56.2MPG either doing the speed limit or keeping up with what was in front (whichever was slower).

I found it could get quite remarkable figures if you were careful. I once got an average of 53.3 over 120ish miles of M25 (Watford to East Grinstead) and back on a Monday morning.

It was easy to get over 600 out of tank on a pan-european trip :D

I used to average 38mpg on my commute in the 330d, the M3 manages 24mpg.

That sounds more like it from an around town M57 :D I get about 28mpg from the 530d so I presume yours is an auto?

Nope, it's a manual e60. There seems to be a few similar complaints of low mpg from the 525d around town on 5series.net so I'm assuming it's normal.

Having said that, there's a common fault with e60 diesels not reaching operating temperature due to the EGR thermostat failing, causing it to overfuel. Fix is a DIY job so I might check it out when I've got time.

10 mile trip, approx half a mile town driving to the dual carriage way, 9 miles on the dual, half a mile town driving at the other end.

S3 - around 21-22 mpg, the fuel consumption was comical when the car was cold.
1.2 Micra - around 41-44 mpg depending on weather and air con needs
R36 - So far around 25-26mpg, but only done a few runs so far.

Oh?

You seem to speed most places, suffer from road rage, like driving fast - there's more but my right mouse button is taking industrial action.

Got a new car now bro, I do speed sometimes, I like driving fast (who doesn't?) and I do suffer from road rage.
Thats just who I am.

But I do the old economy thing going to work now because now i can actually see how many mpg i'm doing :D

40-50MPG, depending on how heavy my foot is.

That's 100 miles a day, 70 of them on dual carriageway. Skoda Fabia TDI.
