How big was your first hard disk?

2GB Quantum Fireball. Thought I might still have it, but, alas, it went to silicone heaven many moons ago :D

Wow, Quantum Fireballs!!! Back in the day I wanted one of these HDD's. They sounded so cool xD. I didn't know much about performance etc back then, I just wanted me one of these bad boys. lol

First computer I actually bought myself and used had an 850mb hard drive I think, based on a P120. However my first PC in the proper sense was an Amstrad 1640 which had no hard drive at all and I also did pick up an old 500mb Conner drive from a mates brothers computer - still works to this day I believe.

40MB...!!!

Opus Technology PC.. cant remember the spec, but sure my toaster is more powerful than that was...

Had to use stacker to compress for more space...!! Remeber how painful it was installing dos and word from floppy disks...

The first I used in a single user computer would have been 5MB, the enormous 10MB drives cost a fortune.

First I owned, 120MB for the Amiga.

An 80MB HDD for an Apple Mac II back in 1991.

It seemed absolutely huge back then. I remember me and my dad coming to the conclusion that we could ever actually fill that much storage space even if we shared it between us.

200mb, i had to delete all my mum's programs (ms works etc) to make room for the 40mb that Super Street Fighter 2 Turbo required

Mum was not a happy bunny :D

20MB ( yes that right Megabytes )

Was for my Amiga 500 , damn thing was a huge brick sized object.

And it did not take long time to fill it either

I think it cost about £250 or more

First PC (IBM XT) I used at work didn't have a Hard Drive but after a year or so they bought me a new Compaq Deskpro 286 12MHz with 1MB RAM, 20 MB Hard Drive & VGA.

I seem to remember that the PC and a Fujitsu Wide Carriage Dot Matrix Printer came to £3,500.

First PC I built had a 130MB Maxtor Hard Drive.

Had an Acorn a3020 with a 40meg HDD, was chuffed that i didn't have to play Simon the sorcerer off the floppy disks!
Later on I spent £1500 on a P100 with (I think) 800meg HDD, 4x cd-rom and a 14" monitor.
How times have changed.:)

5MB Mini-Winchester drive - mind you, when you were using 160KB floppy discs that was a hell of a lot of space!

used to run CP/M-80 on an old TRS-80 Model I with 16KB RAM (when bought ran off tape with a massive 1KB of RAM)

It wasn't mine and I can't remember this capacity but it was a water cooled Winchester drive in the QC Labs at where I used to work. Got used as a door stop if i remember right once the new 286 was bought!
