How big was your first hard disk?

The first computer i used was my dad's, which i started using when i was 6 or so, it had 1GB and i thought that was completely awesome. The first rig i owned myself must have had 40GB or so :)

4GB for me if I remember correctly!! Back in the day when it'd get full and I'd have to go round deleteing things to make room to save my school work haha

My own first PC had a 15GB HDD, that was in an eMachines Celeron 633MHz with 64MB of RAM, which I soon upgraded to a whopping 192MB, AND added a GeForce 2MX 32MB PCI card for gaming awesomeness. Got that PC for Christmas in 2000 when I was 13, lasted me a month shy of three years somehow.

My parents PC at the same time had a 12GB HDD (in a Pentium II 400MHz), before that my Mum had a 486 but I've no idea what size the HDD was.

Can't believe 15GB used to be sufficient, these days the OS alone takes up that much.

First drive was in my A1200 and was 80mb. It cost me over £300. After that in my first pc, I had two huge SCSI drives (5 1/4") of 45mb each. They sounded like an ICBM warming up ready to fire when I first switched on. Awesome stuff. I even got Win 95 running with them on 8mb ram.

My first HDD was 40mb partitioned into 2x20mb. It was an add on to the 8086 I had :-) I still have the hdd and it still works - kudos to seagate! (I think I got it in 1987/88).

My first hard disk on a machine which which was purely mine was 245MB on a 486DX33. Eventually I added an additional 250MB drive and dual booted Win95 and Slackware Linux on the system.

Earlier machine highlights included:
- 20MB (5.25" full height ... for the young'uns think twice the height of a DVD drive) in my Dad's home machine from work (6MHz 286). Used to have Stacker on it giving us ~35MB of storage. The box was a little strange as it had loads of memory in it (he worked for a large business machine company) hence tended to do most stuff on it using a ram disk
- BBC B had an OPUS Challenger III floppy drive which had a built in 256KB (if I remember correctly) ram disk

edit: other than my Dad's work machine I still have all the other kit.

I can't remember my initial hdd size. I brought a secondhand 486sx 25mhz (VL bus gfx!) for £1250 and upgraded the hdd at a later date to a 130mb hdd.

Hdd cost £130, back in the day when prices hit £1 per Mb and it was good :D

It was about 800MB on a P60 with Windows 95. I remember being excited about getting Quake until I glanced at the system requirements and realised it needed a huge 60MB install. I think that system usually ran with between 2 and 5 MB free.

Next HD was a massive 6.4GB, then 20, followed by a 120 and finally a 1TB drive. Down to my last 90GB already.
