How Call Of Duty Spoilt The Fun Of Video Games

Have to say I find perks annoying too, I miss the days when all that seperated you from another person was skill and style of play (weapon choice).

The best fps I've ever played personally is Rainbow Six: Raven shield. Either instant death with a head shot or you could "gimp" people and they would move and a severely reduced speed and then a second shot would take them down. Then there was the fact that sound played a vital role.

the issue seems a very childish one in the sense that you dont expect a child to understand what he considers fun, enjoyable, isnt going to be the same as everyone else. this is why children are educated at school and need role models so that they understand this simple mechanic of life.

clearly some people have over estimated the importance of there opinion and somehow adopted it on behalf of all gamers as gospel.

you will all be playing Counter Strike GO now i take it?

What the hell was wrong with COD4.

It was similar to COD1,2 but with modern weapons.

Some extra perks but nothing to bad.

MW2 is were it went OTT

Wasn't anything like cod1, the killstreaks were the worst part of that game along with the introduction of 1 hit melee attacks that in close quarters were more dependable than a shotgun shell to the face. The fact that killstreaks could be stacked added to the annoyance factor, getting raped by the "chopper of pwn" got old pretty fast.

Its been a whole, but in CoD4 you couldn't stack KS's could you?
I mean i remember getting loads of kills with the airstrike and it never gave me the chopper.. i think!

it wasnt bad though i mean compared to mw2

you only had 3 streaks

3 kills radar...thats fine

5 kills air strike..no big deal

7 kills...heli...quite annoying but not too bad but 7 kills not that easy or often had.

And perks were not OTT either though martyrdom was annoying.

tbh i rarely enjoy any fps where you level up and get better weapons. Everyone else seems to like it so i guess it's just me but if you only play something like BC2 casually like i do, you not only have to contend with regular players knowing maps better than you, they also have much more powerful weapons, that perk thing which gives you really powerful bullets, lightweight, stopping power etc.

I liked it better in FPS's where everyone started with the same weapons to choose from. Probably the reasons TF2 is so popular(some unique weapons are more powerful, but not drastically so, or are quite well balanced).

I have no problem particularly with being able to customize your character, in fact think it is great, but only if it is available to everyone

Yeh like old MOH, old bf games, veitnam, desert combat, COD1, enemy Territory etc....I did have more fun online I think then but I was younger.
