How can any PS3/vita owner not be a PS+ member

Why should anyone question it when Microsoft have been charging to play online since 2005?

I believe it was late 2002 when Live launched and cost a yearly (or maybe monthly as well, I don't remember) sub back then too.

But I can add what they did with backwards compatibility though. Sony removed that so they could sell Playstation 1+2 games on the PSN store. Granted Microsoft did it first, but still.

Maybe for PS2 but backwards compat as far as I know for PS1 is still able by every PS3? Plus the old PS3 models were a bit of a mix, some had software emulation for ps2 and some had ps2 parts in them! Which were scrapped for cost reasons, but they could have at least kept the emulation, that I agree.

I was a member, but stopped, I still have the games saved on my HDD. If I renew my subs, can I play these again?

I don't have it.. And looking at my buddies list not many people I know do have it.

I'm an odd gamer, I can spend hours a week playing games for a few months then not touch the thing for another 3-6 months. Also the games a do like tend to be far from mainstream, thou looking at the ps+ games list, it seems to more than cater for me now. Being a retro collector, I do like a hard copy of the game but totally understand the value behind ps+, it's just like renting a game for ever.

I think it would be unbelievable for any PS3/vita gamer not to have a PS+ membership..
As for the cost of around a single game you get loads & loads of games to download and keep for free (For as long you stay a PS+ member :))

Are there really any PS3 gamers out that does not have PS+ ??

The only big problem I get with PS+ is not having enough PS3 harddrive & vita memorycard space......:D

I want to get it but I never have the spare cash for it :(

I have a PS3 and never had PS+. Also got an XB360 and never had XB Live.
To be honest I never really researched anything about PS+ other than it was a subscription service at which point I dismissed the prospect as some months I don't play on the PS3 at all. From the sounds of it I have 'missed the boat' and won't be able to get the back catalogue of previous games. Although maybe a good deal anyway if there's a game I want at £5.49 seems cheaper than what you normally pay (I got Uncharted 3 a few months ago, it was like £13 or summat)

One thing that did annoy me was when PSN got hacked you could get a free game but it was time limited and by the time I got round to trying to claim it, it was too late.

I don't. Generally I prefer multi plats on 360 or PC and most of the games that do come to PS+ I find I'm either not interested in or I've already played already.

A 12month membership is only around the price of a single new PS3 game release..;)

I bet many gamers on here could get most the membership cost by just selling there hard copys of some the games that are free to download with PS+ ...

Same for me.There are some games on PS+ that I would prefer to play on my 360 so have bought them for that instead.

I just can't get into using my PS3 for games...only blu rays

Metal Gear Rising Revengeance is coming to PS+ this month. I wanted to get the game when it became cheap but its coming to PC soon and I know it will be better. So I rather wait than take up space in my HDD.

Same here, though now I have a Vita and will be getting the PS4 at some point, I will certainly be subscribing to PS+ in the future.

Limited time to play PS3 :p coupled with limited bandwidth coupled with Netflix.

I only got PS+ around the time TLOU came out after I bought a PS3 (again) for a few exclusives and GTA5.

I have to say, it's one of the main reasons I'm so keen to get a PS4, and I've just got myself a Vita too. It's an awesome service, and although I know Live is generally a better online platform, the "free" games you get make the MS offerings with Live Gold laughable.

IMO it really is excellent value.

I don't have ps+!

most of my ps3 games I only play single player, quid Unchartered, AC, Last of Us etc... GT5 is the only one I play online once in a while

shooters, RTS, etc... in which I play multiplayer I play on PC and wouldn't want to play on console

so I have no use for PS+. the free games are either games I don't want to play otherwise I have bought them already since the free games aren't exactly new releases
