I have a diamond max sata HD in an external case. The drive was originally used inside a PC then moved to the external caddy later on.
The caddy power supply has recently started making strange noises so I thought It would be a good idea to remove the drive from the caddy and bung it in my PC and a second internal HD. Just for storage, it has no system on it.
Now I removed it from the caddy and plugged a sata cable and power lead into it, but it does not show up at all in XP. Not even showing in the computer management util or bios.
What is the correct procedure for adding a drive like this? Did I miss something out?!
