How can people moan about the price of vista.

I wouldn't mind paying the £200 or whatever it costs if the product actually improved my work flow but it doesn't
It's pointless just upgrading simply because it's the latest new hyped product - it has to make a difference and it doesn't.

The 'Wow' starts here

Absolute rubbish !!!

For me the asking price of Vista in the UK is a rip-off due to the price that the US are getting. If this is "revenge" on the EU for the anti-trust then all that will do is enourage more businesses to look at alternatives (especially in higher education).

If it wasn't for the fact I should be able to get Vista Business under my works license agreement then I'd be seriously considering swapping to a Mac or Linux. I know I won't be an early adopter in any case due to the high price and lack of decent drivers from certain companies.

Amazon.com price for Vista Ultimate. $380
Amazon.co.uk Price for Vista Ultimate. £354

dont matter which way you take exchange rates, taxes etc..

we're being ripped off.

If I look at many items in the U.S. they are much cheaper than the UK, this is nothing to do with MS is it!

true

adobe are just as bad. Software downloaded from the same servers gets priced differently for the US and the UK. Guess which is more ?

Yes but OS X doesn't work on all pcs (legally) you need to buy expensive macs for it,

Hardly a fair comparison. You can get xp to run on uber cheap pcs, not a chance with OSX which has fairly hefty requirements tbh

OSX's system requirements are no higher than XP's, never mind Vista's. And you get most of the graphical effects in OSX 10.4 without needing DX9-level graphics hardware.

The difference is that Apple are able to work with a unified hardware structure, MS have to make it work with almost everything. It is much harder for developers when they have to write for such a broad base of hardware.

OSX 10.4 obviously knows that a certain level of GFX card will be available, where in XP/Vista it could be anything from an onboard device to a 8800GTX!
