How did you get your job?

I quit Uni so went in search of a temporary job to get some money coming in. I started a job just under a week after leaving Uni working as a storeman. I got talking to the IT Manager and 6 months later I moved into the IT department.

6 and a bit years later and a couple of promotions later, I'm the IT Director.

My mother got sick of me doing nothing and leeching off her so she got me a job at her place(Exel) with agency but i'm now full time

Nope. It's all very non-specific ..... quite carefully so.

I talked to recruiter
filled out a stupidly long application form.
Went to see the flight surgeon for a flight physical, the whole turn your head and cough thing.
Did a physical evaluation test
Went through 6 weeks of basic training
filled out another stupidly long application form asking for information onw here i lived for the past 7 years to get my security clearance
went through 12 weeks and 3 days of tech school
studied 5 volumes of upgrade training and passed my end of course exam.
and hopefully in a year will be doing most of it all over again

1 Got talking to a uni classmate on the night of our graduation about jobs and she suggested monster.co.uk.
2 Put CV on monster
3 Got about 500 "OMG BES 4TW" type calls from employers clamouring to hire me (Most were on crap pay tho)
4 Got offered an interview for one on decent pay
5 Kicked ass during the interview
6 Got hired

I went on job seekers with the only reason being so I could pay for my driving lessons.

I was put on New Deal and they made me do some training courses so I chose to do a '16 week' ECDL at a local training provider. I finished that in 4 days at a lazy unemployed studenty pace, and then helped them out in the office for a few days to gain some work experience.

I cant remember why but I had a day off and they rang me.

Manager: oh hi Mike, theres a job going here, the salary is £<crap-but-more-than-the-dole> do you want it?
Me: yeh alright
Manager: ok then, see you on monday

I had to fill in an application form an knock up a crappy cv for their records, but no interview or anythin. Easy peasy!
