Hey fellas,

So I ordered a product the other day (not from OCUK) and theyve sent it through with a foreign power adapter on it.

Theyve given me a UK plug aswell.. but unless Im being completely retarded, I cant figure it out!!

Is it the wrong plug??

Holy huge images!

It isnt really clear from the pictures what we're supposed to be looking at... the top one looks like a US plug and I have no idea what the second pic is showing!

It looks like that plug adapter converts a European plug. I think they should have given you a European plug rather than a US one.

The adaptor you have is for adapting Euro plugs. The plug you have appears to be a USA plug.

Rewire it to a 13A plug TBH.

If the original plug is USA can the device take 240V? If so just lop it off and rewire into a UK plug. If it won't you will need a step down transformer.

If anyone in here needs to be shown how to wire up a plug, then really they are too stupid to operate a computer and need to take the whole thing back to the shop.

Bit of an overreaction? Never any harm in checking a safety related job no matter how many times you may have done it...

Since when is wiring a plug a vital skill? It's completely reasonable for someone not to know how to rewire a plug. The only reason I know is that I was told in physics class at school but 90% of people never do physics. There's no tangible need for your average joe to have the slightest clue about electronics. He plugs something in and if it doesn't work or won't fit in then he calls an electrician. At least, I get the impression that's how most people operate.

Nobody should use ethernet cables unless they know how to wire them either surely!

I've done it once in my life and that was the last year of school. Not a clue now which cable goes where.

I'd agree if the person is under 20 years old but most people over that will remember having to fit their own plugs as they didn't always come with them fitted.

Most people should know the basics of DIY, would you call a joiner to put a shelf up? Frankly it's the same basic level of skill.

Although I already knew how to do it, they showed us how to fit a plug in a-level physics (I'm 22). Basically though, I agree with you. It's unbelievably easy.
