how do you configure your mouse for games?

i bind one of my extra mouse buttons to voice chat in mumble

otherwise i use them for forwards/backwards whilst browsing

never needed them in a game...

well i just completed L4D2 in less than 2 hours :( admitidly on easy but still. no restarts and no team member deaths. i had been playing it with a 360 controller and never got passed the bit where you have to get coke. made a big difference playing with mouse, but it does mean i now dont need to play L4D2 again :(

Wanna borrow my tinfoil hat?

Edit: You realise this is an internet forum? :p

i use it on my laptop as i couldnt care less if i get a virus on it as i only use it for net so factory reset will fix it. dont want to spend hours setting up the pc and installing everything for the sake of being beaten on multiplayer games.

i dont like to leave that pc connected to the net for too long. dont want a virus killing it. and i suck, i mean really suck. so online i would just get battered.

Er... getting a virus is not a matter of time connected to the net - it's a matter of security (rather a lack of). With an anti-virus program and some common sense you will pretty much never get one. You certainly wont get one whilst gaming.

I map my mouse keys out on COD BO for knife and killstreaks just so I don't have to take my fingers off the movement controls. Also allows extremely fast knifing compared to the V key on the keyboard when your playing with WSAD simply due to where V actually is (most people have to move their middle finger from W to press V with the index etc)

I just play the game and if something needs to be changed, then a simple adjustment of the sensitivity bar in the options always sorts it out for me.

I also am someone that likes to use, I think it is mouse 4 (4 or 5), for reloading. Left button = attack, right = jump and mouse 3 = can be anything, then again I don't always use it anyway.

I use the DPI switching more than I thought I would. It's in a convenient place on the Ikari for switching when you don't need twitch reflexes, like tracking a smaller target.

I seem to forget about the side buttons, to be honest. I don't play CoD or anything though. The only game I play that isn't only against or with friends is Lead & Gold, although I have Bad Company 2 sitting on my shelf still waiting to be installed, so I may use the side button on my thumb for knife.

Don't worry about viruses. Get yourself a decent anti-virus, and don't worry about it. As already said, you can't even get a virus playing games.
