How do you do your shopping?

I buy some stuff for the freezer, and pull something out in the morning - then spend 10 minutes checking recipes and get fresh veggies from the market / grocer to make that meal. Try to make an effort to know what is in season.

We usually try to plan ahead for the week however with both us work shifts (sometimes conflicting) and this can be quite hard to plan ahead. Our shopping is usually done in person (not on line) at our local Tesco (staff discount) and we try to buy and eat as fresh/healthy as is possible.

I have to admit though our slow cooker is a godsend when it comes to shift work - allows us both to eat the same meal at different times. I hate nothing more than wasting good food simply because its gone out of date!

The supermarket is walking distance so we usually plan a couple of days ahead and buy for that. Other half usually goes to the market at the weekend and bulk buys fruit and vegetables, so we usually plan around that which is nice because it's usually stuff that's in season.

Order online every fortnight for everything, have a basic fortnight meal plan laid out before each shop, usually stays mostly the same, but swap things out every now and again when I fancy something different, but generally stick to the plan. For the stuff that doesn't last more than a week, I pop out to the local shops and pick up bread/some veg/fruit etc when I need it. I spend half on food compared to most of my friends, but eat a lot better as I cook most stuff from scratch as much as possible.

My wife shops on Ocado asking me what I fancy cooking, normally about twice a week we have that conversation. I get the meat at the butchers on the weekend (some basics from Ocado though) and often fish from the fishmongers if I fancy it. (they are both walking distance so I go with the dogs, who terrorise people and the plastic pig at the butchers outside)

Does anyone do veg or meat box deliveries?

Seems a good way of getting local produce and hopefully good quality. then building a weekly menu around it.

did veg box for ages but wife binned it due to it getting repetitive, I thought it was great.

We have a decent green grocers a couple of hundred yards away so can't complain though

Was the produce good quality and does it last? Or does it all go limp and dead with in a day or two?

I would expect it to be fairly repetative due to it actually being in season veg.
Few companies seem to offer different styles of boxes, so could alternate and get two of each a month.
