My most played game is L4D2 @ 500 hours and I have thoroughly played it to death now, to the point I can't play at all any more. Yet there are people on my friends list with over 10k hours on it and are still not bored.
That is just playing the survival game mode as well. Some of their times per game are like 6+ hours lol. Thats 6 hours of constant kneeling in a corner and shooting slow moving zombies with guns that have no recoil. I can't get my head around what makes that fun, but each to their own I guess.
I like playing games, been playing games since 1978 when the Atari was released, It has cost me a few relationships along the way, exam results that could have been much better just like any other hobby should
I could have dedicated that time into learning multiple languages, another instrument bettering myself in numerous ways but no I have sunk years into playing computer games and enjoyed every part apart from mob camping in Anarchy online for a JEPP that was horrible competing against chin-ease gold farmers.

My /played on wow was 210 over 4 years which did seem a bit daunting but when another teenager could spend 1 day a week in hours on the lash it kind of equals out over the 4 years. Especially when you add hangover time onto that!
I don't look at them as they don't mean much. Too often I start a game, then have to go do something for "5 minutes" and 3 hours later I remember that PC is still on and I'm "in game"
Oh I know, I have lost hours and hours in games like Skyrim, Fallout, Stalker etc. But literally crouching in the corner of a room shooting thousands and thousands of zombies continuously for 6 hours straight without a break... I'd want to escape from that to real life if it was me.
It's a good job the OCUK forum, Facebook, social media, YouTube, etc don't have counters for how many hours I've spent on them!
But yeah, you can only work so many hours a day without downtime so don't assume those are hours you're 'wasted' if it's something you enjoy especially if it's a social online game with friends.
529 hours played on my main and I have a few alts as well.
I have not `paid` to play for a couple of years now as I can easily make the required amount of gold every month to afford a token. I have always felt that I would like to play another game at some point and I do play other blizzard games but then I also feel that playing any other game takes time away from wow. Its what I do to relax. Currently I have a young family, I work full time and I am studying to be a Chartered Surveyor so my free time is limited but I still enjoy to play when I can and when I have finished an assignment after celebrating with the wife and kids after a meal out there is noting better than to kick back with a few mythic+ dungeons or a bit of pvp. Have i played this game to much? probably, when I was raiding back in previous expansion when I didn't have a job and nothing to do all day I would regularly play for 14 hours a day. I admit that was excessive but at the time I couldn't see it I just wanted to play.
