How do you get your daily satisfaction/happiness?

God your a miserable lot :)

Take pleasure in what you do - if you just slob about all day sleeping, watching TV, playing games and posting on internet forums of course you'll be depressed, your wasting your life! That would depress anyone.

Even something as mundane as getting all the washing done is an achievment (I always seem to have piles and piles of dirty clothes so 'clearing the decks' is a relief). Finding time to take the dogs for a proper walk, making the effort to drive to the lakes to give myself a proper walk, tidying the computer room, hoovering, finally wiring up my hi-fi after 3 months.

Whatever it is I did it, ticking off another day in which I did nothing though is a missed opportunity.

lots of things:

if i've helped someone at work and they've asked for my name :D

if i've done a decent amount of college work

mostly though its if i manage to pull off mixing for an hour or so on my decks with no complete cockup transitions

A few things

My 2 year old son waking me up always puts a smile on my face 1st thing in the morning. "Morning Daddy, time for wakey up time!"

My 11month Old son. He is just splendid, just getting the hang of walking, so wants help walking everywhere.

My Wife, every morning I wake up next to her and think... "I love you"

Work, I love what I do at the moment, and I do it for enjoyment

Cooking. I cook most days and really enjoy my time in the kitchen

Driving, most days I take the long way to and from work, whatever the weather, just to enjoy my car.

I am sure there are more...

" i got 2 levels on wow today, its been a good day"

or on a friday, " i can play wow all day tomorrow....and er see my girlfriend"

I don't have anything to look forward to, and I have nothing with which to judge the relative success of a day. It's just another day, simple as. I haven't been even vaguely happy for years, apart from brief flashes of escapist humour when watching comedy TV shows, I guess.

Yes my life sucks. Yes I'm trying to do something about it, but I've been trying for years and pretty much getting nowhere. Yes I'm bringing this thread down and will leave now.

Same here but i've pretty much accepted it :D
Yea and i fap a lot too lately.

for me its talking to the missus or getting something done a work, which at the moment seems to be one hell of a task as wrestling control of anything from the US side of the company just starts an arguement

hugging my son (he's under 2)

saying night night to him and getting the same reply.

hugging my wife as well.

In fact hugs are great everyone should have a hug everyday :D

The wife and my 18 month old daughter. When i come in from work and my daughter shouts "dada" and runs over to me makes my heart melt.

I find doing a bit of physical work down in the garage after work makes me feel pretty good. Something at the end of a day at work that shows some physical results. Then I can forget work, enjoy my evening with my SWMBO and the night is complete.

When I used to live at home I was probably more consistently happy, but my life was flat compared to now. There are far more extreme highs and lows having my own place and being in a serious relationship.

Satisfaction is a state of mind that mainly comes from having inner peace and not always wanting more. Living in the now and appreciating and thinking about the things you have got, and not the things you haven't.

Someone once told me that if you stand up straight look slightly upwards and force a smile, it tricks your brain and it's almost impossible not to feel happy......It's true, try it!

Happiness and satisfaction are states of mind that can be learnt.

True - some kids in Africa with 1 leg and half a bowl of rice, flies around their mouth, still somehow are able to produce a smile.

People in the tube, homeowners, credit card, warm jacket, looking miserable....

;)

This is so true, in the West our lifes can be so much more removed from reality our minds are constantly elsewhere and not in the current moment. People with very little tend to be living in the now.

Thats not to say there is not a lot more suffering in these countries but people are certainly more alive than the ones you see on the train.

Also we don't really know the meaning of the word "suffering" and think of everything in terms of money or materials. I rather spend a day at the sea or biking through a forest, rather than go shopping in Bluewater or Oxford street.

I see what your saying. Its always nice at the end of the day to look back and say ive done x y and z little jobs. Your satsifaction comes from your small acheivements and productivity in the day then?
