How do you square the circle...

People hate adverts and don’t want to see them.

People also don’t want to pay for things.

How do you square it?

Personally i'm happy to see a certain degree of advertising in order to get something i want for free.

The problem with the situation that most are in now is that a lot of sites etc have become so overbearing with adverts that this can make the whole experience unpleasant (slow page loading, sapping masses of bandwidth etc). Whether advertising companies have gone down this route because of more people using some form of ad-blockers and make up for loss revenue or because they've got greedier, who knows...

Maybe there should be a law that dictates complete transparency when it comes to revenue earned through advertising. For example on your favourite news site it costs £3000 to host and publish their daily content on their home page, an advertisement pays out 1p per viewer, and with an average of 350k daily visitors, they make a profit of £500 on the advert.

Problem i've found now is that website know you're using an Ad-Blocker and don't give you access until you disable the ad-blocker!
 
Either 1) Charge a reasonable fee that people are willing to pay (like Spotify or Apple Music)

or 2) Have non intrusive ads that don't stalk you round the internet or take over your whole screen.

You'll always have some cheapskates who don't believe in paying for content or viewing adverts, but most people are fairly reasonable about this stuff. Currently you have this nonsense situation where some websites dedicate 80% of their code to browser-tracking and other ad related stuff. It's ludicrous.
