How do you use the rift? expectations?

Games not designed for VR do still play really well in the rift too from my personal experience (around 2-3 year ago) I started on a oculus dk2 for elite dangerous, played all the free jump scares and random games with keyboard and headset. (Welcome to oculus is a must try if it's still about, this demo shows all the potential of VR it's just a really cool experience) dying light and alien isolation worked well even though your orientation would sometimes slide, resetting it sorted that out. Back then menus where also really hard to read, a small price to pay when the games wernt made for VR.

now in my oculus rift consumer (literally just got it the other day) that's almost not a problem anymore. In games like elite my top tip would be to make the text/HUD green! These headsets have more green sub pixels so it makes reading small text much better, I thought this was just a dev kit thing but still helps on the new rift. The rift controllers are really well made too, I use a HOTAS and racing wheel wheel mostly but those hand trackers are great for shooting games.

One thing I have noticed is the God rays are quite annoying in this new rift, I can't say I remember them being anywhere near this obvious in the older DK2 anything bright as you move your focal point around it in a circular motuon you get the god ray type effect that spins around the lenses.

If you have a 1080ti up the screen resolution on anything you can. x1.5 or x2 downscaling will make everything better these cards can cope with that as long as you drop the Aliasing down to off or x2.
