How do you wake up in the morning?

Clearly were ment to stay inactive in the morning, if evolution says we should not be active we wouldnt of naturally evolved to get an overwhelming feeling of not wanting to move ! thats my theory anyways, alas ill have no late mornings as soon as I start my masters :(

Just drink a pint of water before you go to bed.. That way in the morning you'll have to get up!

Although I'm a good one for giving advice on how to get out of bed when the alarm goes off.. I can sleep through anything! I've got two alarms and I still struggle most days, don't think I'll ever get used to waking up early.

My alarm goes off at 7 then I walk across the room, press snooze and go back to sleep every 5 minutes until about 7:50 :D

I might do the curtain thing

Winrar!!

I just get mum to shout at me =/

Alarm clocks never wake me up, can anyone think of a PROPERLY annoying and loud tune to put on my phone as an alarm?

Bah :(

Not only do have the problem of getting out of bed, I've been known to get up and out and into the bathroom, and then kip on the bathroom floor or on the toilet. While brushing my teeth. It's awful... :(

For some reason over the past few weeks i have naturally woke up at exactly 5am or 6am. I mean exactly one of those times, not a minute before or after. Its odd, but i get to sleep right after until i need to get up at 7.30am.

There are two essential elements of a good sleep cycle:

Make sure you are getting a GOOD amount of sleep. If you are going to bed at 1am and getting up at 7am dont come crying when your alarm fails to rouse you. If you want to be able to wake up in the mornings without feeling like a zombie GO TO BED EARLIER.

Regularity is the key. The body works on natural euclidean cycles which dictate when you should be sleeping, and when you should be most alert. If you set your alarm for 7am but snooze till 8am you arent actually getting up at 7am at all because your rhythm will be set to the 8am (If you allow yourself to naturally wake your more likely to hit 8 than 7). A really great way i have found of forcing yourself up on time is by resetting your rhythm to a time before your usual wake up time. Ie, for a week, set your alarm to 6am instead of 7 and force yourself up each morning. Then the next week, set your alarm back to 7, and you will probably wake up naturally before the alarm even goes off. Either way, the mornings will be easier.

I've tried 2 alarms at opposite corners of my room, but I run out of bed, turn it off, jump back into bed because it's freezing and the same for the second then I wake up :o

Edit: I know i'm going to be late in my mind, but my body seriously refuses. It may sound stupid but I can't control it :/

I've got this nifty alarm that has all kinds of 'great' soundscapes, rainforest, thunderstorm etc etc. The clincher though is the one that sounds like ocean waves rolling in. Within 5 minutes of it coming on, it's just impossible to fall asleep again because the need to pee gets steadily more insistent.

If i wake up naturally even if its at some silly time like 4-5am i generally feel fine & it can sometimes take me over an hour to get back to sleep as i just don't feel tired, however if i dont go back to sleep i'll start falling asleep around lunch time which aint good at work.

When my alarm goes off at 7am there has been the odd occasion i've slept straight through it, and a lot of the time i feel hungover even if i haven't had a drink, once every 2 - 3 weeks i'll even wake up & actually feel like i've been out the night before & am still a fair bit drunk even when i've not touched any alcohol, this usually lasts for about half an hour.

I tend to wake up quite confused sometimes too, theres been occasions where for a minute or two after waking up that it feels like whatever i was dreaming about really happened.

is there a way to get your pc to start itself up in the morning? if so firstly buy as many delta fans as money allows (i suggest the 120mm fans) then plug them all in to your psu and set your to turn about the same time you want to wake up this should wake you (or create a vacuum inside your pc case)!

note i do not do this myself

When my alarm goes, I immediately drag myself off the bed and stand up - even if my eyes are shut.

Then turn off the alarm.

It's all down to habbit I suppose. Hope you'll work it out, my little brother have really problems with hitting the snooze button and fallen asleep again. A bit of wet ear does the trick to wake him up :D

When I was at school, I always used to snooze, but this job allows me to sleep almost as much as I want so most of the time i have no problem getting out of bed, unless im on an early then I have to be up @ 5:30, then I really struggle, but most of the time I set an alarm for 05:20 and then again for 5:30, so it gives me a chance to lie awake rather than throwing myself out of bed.

Never had any problems getting up in the morning even if I've been out the night before, (e.g. out to 3am and then in the office at 07:30). I have my normal alarm next to the bed which goes off at 05:30 and the alarm on my mobile goes off 10mins later (in case theres a problem with the alarm clock ... it needs replacing) ... but I'm normally awake before it.

Did go through a period when i was catching a 05:45 train to work which was a struggle by the end of the week but I managed it ... normally hits me in the afternoon though if I havent had enough sleep.

I even have alarms set on the weekend, (07:30 on Saturday and 10:00 on Sunday), so I don't waste the whole day in bed.

I was, until recently, working with acouple of people though who tended to struggle to get into work by 10:00 which was a pain, (and they used to get in trouble for it as that was the latest time they had to be in by).
