I loved my WD Live TV Streaming box, pity support came to an end but no looking back once I got a Nvidia Shield.

I tried the Shield, but couldn't get on with it.
  • I had my WDTV in the living room with a HDD connected.
  • The WDTV was connected via ethernet and smart plugs to my PC.
  • I then moved movies etc from my PC direct to the HDD connected to the WDTV.
  • Watched movies from the WDTV from folders set up on the HDD ie Dads stuff, Mums stuff etc.
That's all i wanted it to do.

But when i tried the Shield, i couldn't find the connected HDD, there was talk of Plex servers etc and other stuff i needed to do to get it all working.

The Vero, plug in, download Windows SMB, connect HDD and viola, exactly the same as the WDTV box, but with more bells and whistles, ie 265 playback, some amazing skins etc. Plus, much cheaper than the Shield (£107 delivered).

I cannot remember the last optical disk I used... or even if I still own a DVD or Bluray player (other than games consoles)...

Like Minusorange, I prefer to watch with eyes open :-D
