Find companies close to where you live to find out if they have any vacancies?

I am interested in the purchasing and supply chain and have applied to many specialists agencies a lot of which have been helpful but someone also suggested contacting companies direct to see if they can place me..

Please advise

Thanks

they dont really specify names and full of agencies...

sure I have previously found Job centre and monster do sometimes show names etc but not at this moment..

What I need is some kind of directory listing all businesses close to me so I can call up personally I'd guess that what recruitment agencies do..

But I dont know how to get one?

cheers

Locate the Estate manager of your Local Industrial areas/estates. These Dudes will have a list of every company on site & it will include Email addys, the managers name & no. & the HR name & number.
Only recently stumbled upon this little gem myself whilst cruising Magna park. I honestly couldn't believe that the job centre do not have contact with the Estate managers as it is the Perfect up to date list of who is actually doing business in your area.
I am sure there is an easier way of locating the estate managers other than cruising the area & locating there office or stopping there motor but I haven't found it yet.
The lists i have got to date are Superb though & enable me to phone HR direct with a name & spam there email boxes.

estate managers? how can I find them?

sorry but I really appreciate everyones suggestions can you all try and be a bit more precise otherwise its like looking for a needle in a haystack...

thanks

For Christ's sake show some initiative! If you need to be spoonfed the exact information then you haven't a hope in hell of getting a decent job.

Take your finger out of your arse and do some research. Don't expect us to give you the bloody words to search for in yell.com! Try the words which you think will give you the results you want and see if they work. If they don't, try another combination.

Jesus wept!

^^ So it was Your Dummy that came flying out my Monitor then :p

My report card on the O.P. is "Seems to lack motivation" :D

oi you cheeky git...@ scuzi

yell does not specify what departments each company holds they only state what services a company offers - so how the No swearing am I supposed to call every single services offered company - are you dumb or just plain stupid..

the companies for which I have previously worked I would never have found them on yell because a lot of companies dont even advertise on there...

crawl back from under the stone you came out off or STFU...

Ever considered lessons in basic English?

Could help you in finding a job.

:p

You'll probably have to find companies, then ask if they have vacancies.

Tried popping letters through local companies doors? Anything to get your foot in.

Well you do seem to lack a certain amount of initiative... calling the council for council information for example, as above...

mat - have you ever tried calling the council? I did this morning and was told by HR dept...

"I dont know if we have any vacancies, have you tried our website?" to which I said Yes and didnt see anything

The woman turned around and said "well our website has loads of jobs, do you have a computer" I was like yes I have just been there, can you guide me through your site, to which she replied " i wouldnt know where to look"

This is the HR dept of my local council, how the hell, I mean wtf

Did you ask them (the switchboard possibly) that you were trying to find out whether the council holds information on registered companies in the area and how, if possible, you might be able to get hold of such information? Just for starters...
