How does this car look? Newbie Car buyer.

I'd also be disinclined to take advice on engines from someone who obviously doesnt really care about cars (why drive a Getz otherwise?) and has probably not driven much else :p

The 1.3 in the Ka or Fiesta will get you from A to B, but there are much more capable and modern alternatives - as Janesy said, a tidy 1.25 Fiesta is easily doable and a much better option

If you get a KA check the steering rack has been done as they are a common enough fault.

Also it eats bushes, a decent enough fix is poly bushes.

Probably because it's a TOTALLY DIFFERENT ENGINE in a TOTALLY DIFFERENT CAR made by a TOTALLY DIFFERENT MANUFACTURER.

;)

*facepalm*.

in th quote that i put where does it say what car it was for. he just said 1.3 engines where bad. he could have ment all 1.3 engines so no need for the cockiness

Don't get the 1.3, horrible engine

No it's not. The early 1.3 ("Kent" engine iirc) is pretty basic, noisy and old. But the newer Duratec 1.3 engine one on the 2003- KA's is actually pretty good.

The KA is no where near as bad as people are making out - although at £500-1000 it might be. It's certainly a fun drive on B roads, the gearbox is slick and the steering feels good (2003- ones). The only thing is that everything on the car is flimsy and, not that you would, but don't expect the interior to be nice.

He said THE 1.3 engine, not A 1.3 engine. This clearly references THE 1.3 in the car referenced in the Original Post. Not in your horrible little Getz or any other horrible small engined car.

It's a thread about Ford Kas, and the OP specifies a 1.3l Ford Ka in the OP, that doesn't leave much room for manoeuvre :p

Anyway, a 1.3l petrol in a small hatchback is going to be far more suitable than a 1.3l diesel in a mondeo-size car or bigger; you can't seriously have thought all 1.3l engines are equal?

Funny that because it's the same engine with few more refinements. The engine is still based on the Valencia units plonked in the MK1 Fiesta which itself is a variation of the Kent pushrod engine. 'duratec' is just branding. It's still the same engine.

I've never actually genuinely facepalmed twice in the same thread because of the same poster - congratulations, have a cookie (and a dictionary).

Nobody who knows anything about cars would ever say something as stupid as all 1.3 engines are bad (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mazda_****el_engine#13B-REW) and bearing in mind you're in a forum of car enthusiasts/hobbyists....
