How does your car Pull!

Ive got a G tech meter but can never find a place where I can stop which is flat, where I dont get in the way of everyone whilst stopped and can get to a decent speed without speeding too much.

I believe the car is capable of 0-60s in the mid 5 secs range and 1/4 miles in the mid 13s
Only mid 5's? Your car has to be better than that I would imagine.

Dual Carriageways - they have proper laybys for parking in every few miles. You can pull into one of these and then legally and safely do an accurate 0-60 run as you exit from the layby and rejoin the carriageway :)

From my interpretation of the law I don't think it's ever legal to do a timed 0-60 run on a public road. RTA 1988 S13 iirc. From memory, it mentions 'trials of speed' being illegal.

would like to get tom do some proper timings on mine at some point

only reference I have is that it was noticably quicker than a Ferrari 348 the other night ;)

Does this not refer to racing/timed laps?

Had a quick (and also slightly tipsy) look at S12, that concerns racing between cars and trials of speed. S13 covers "competitions or trials" involving motor vehicles. It would be down to the individual judge tbh, i would have thought using a G-Tech Meter would be covered under the latter though.

Thats a point but most of the lay bys Ive ever been on are full of crud with loose roads chips etc, so getting a good launch without spinning the wheels might be a bit hard. I'll have a look tomorrow to see what I can find and get a vid on my phone.

Damn Mark, here was me thinking it was actually a thread about how much female attention we got in the car today ;)

They're slow old things anyway :p

ive got no idea what my soarer is like for the 0-60 dash, some people claim they're around 7 seconds but then others say 5.5. It's probably quite close to the supra given its the same(ish) engine.

Daihatsu 4trac 2.8tdi,pulls 3.5tonne no probs

<checks thread>

ah,waving the wrong willy

where can i get hold of a g meter or something to time my 0-60 without using a stop watch. is the g meter more accurate than a speedo.

also, how do you film your speedo, stick a camera somewhere :p

My 94 sunny SR did 0-60 in just over 10 (10.2~ timed by a mate), and that was a week after i passed my test. Now i run 98 fuel with a replacement k&n filter + a lot more experience. Sub 10 should be easy :D

G-Meter's are very accurate. Remember a thread from ages ago and think somebody hooked one up in their car at Santa-Pod and the results the G-Meter gave with same as the timing stuff at Santa-Pod or within a 100-1000th of a second. So they are pretty damn accurate as long as you don't cheat and are on a level road and have it setup properly. :)
