how far can I push my q6600 ?

ok so now after all this messing about even when I am using the oc profile of 10 or 15 % it still shows 2.4Ghz in system info :S and core temp... confused

You're not going to be able to overclock much with that board. It's not designed for it. You may get 2.6-3.0GHz maximum I would think.

Do not use OC profiles, increase the FSB manually. If you're not sure, then have a read through the thousands of Q6600 overclocking guides out there before you touch anything.

But really, don't hold out much hope for that board. I couldn't push a E6400 past 2.7GHz on one.

I've ran my Q6600 at 3.6GHz no problems for a while now, it's still a beast in my eyes!

tbh I will be happy with around 3.0Ghz, I know the mobo is terrible for oc but if theres a will theres a way

Sys info is quite unreliable, try CPUZ to see exactly what's going on with the proc....

in cpuz it just tells me the current speed not the maximum speed ? :S

Stress it with IBT. It wont be long in shooting up to it's maximum in CPUZ.

Or just use Coretemp.
